Surely we've got some lawyers out there? Is it legal, civil liberties, human rights I know they can do it to Humpbacked whales and convicted criminals on early release , but do employers have the legal right to remotely monitor the exact geographical position of employees

God knows Im sure the union will be on the case and will find out if this legal,dont want to be the prophet of doom but dont be suprised if they can get away with it.

All have radioactive emissions,look forward to the class action in 15 years when your hip is crumbling cos of aggressive meloblastoma ,what would you settle for ? £1 mill , £5 Mill ,bearing in mind you would at most have 18 months to spend it

A bit late to be asking that now as these trackers are already in a lot of the vans, so they probably alraedy knew where you stop off each morning for a tea or whatever.

Cant see it being rolled out to us posties,far to expensive.They cant even afford to give us pouches that dont fall to bits in a week!

Apparently they are being trialled somewhere (don't know where) also the CWU are talking with RM to have guidelines in place that mean they cant use them in a disciplinary manner.

On the opposite side apparently they will also be used so that customers who are expecting their Prio can see where you are on the RM website (maybe google earth ) so that they are more likely to be in when you knock. If handled correctly by the Union and Royal Mail and with safeguards in place I can see nothing to fear. Perhaps I am a little naive.

these trackers are already in our vans .Managers went on a course last week to see how to monitor them.They can tell exacly where you are how long your there ,how long you stop etc.Not good at all im afraid.

TBT, you know what RM are like, they dont know how to tell the truth, remember job and finnish and theres no more money and the classic your pensions safe, to me it seems like an infringement of our civil rights, youve got all this fuss about I.D cards and yet this is far worse, it really is like Big Brother...UNITY IS STRENGTH.

Reading the cost per day for the trackers (not sure if it's the same system this one was 'meta') and its 54p per day 3.24p per six days not sure how large the fleet is but it's going to be a large sum of money involved + of course the fitting who's budget pays for this ? and thats just the omv's

I've read somewhere (can't remember where) that RM hope to save money by identifying problem driving and retraining the drivers

Everyones cars will go over to a form of tracking anyway eventually. Can't see too big a deal with it - unless you're doing something youshouldn't be :D
