What would be stopping a government run Royal Mail from also delivering parcels.manfromuncle wrote: ↑28 Mar 2023, 13:04Nobody will buy the letters side with the USO obligation therefor we will be in all intents and purposes re-nationalised.
The government administrators will then be under pressure to deliver. It could be a better result than it remaining with the current leadership.
I would say this is either gross incompetence or deliberate policy to reach such an outcome. You decide..

Company pensions are protected if funded correctly all along. Should it have been underfunded there is a Government lifeboat scheme that would come into force.
Still don’t trust it. Look what happened to the Mirror Group all those years ago. Hopefully protections are now in place due to this incident and others.

Ok let's say hypotheticallyredlen wrote: ↑28 Mar 2023, 14:47In my opinion Royal Mail will be under state control and an administrator appointed to run the company.
To try and save the company if no additional funding can be acquired, GLS will be sold to Daniel Křetínský. The Government has already given the green light.
Contracts of employment will be history with terms and conditions to bring the business back into profit and offset its debt to capital ratio. The appointed administrator has that power
This will all depend on if a deal can be reached by the CWU and Royal Mail that expires tomorrow

Expand it to most managerial and admin employees too. Offer them a job as a postie, or no job at all.

Re: Where's the news coverage
I am actively supporting my union who have been duped into talks with an employer which has no moral compass and is determined to demoralise and destroy it's workforce. Do you not think that negative comments divide the workforce , which is exactly what RM want. It's called divide and conquer. If we show we will not be bullied or threatened into submission then we stand a chance. If we give in do you honestly think that RM will honour any agreement? Bullies thrive when nobody stands up to them. I certainly won't stay in RM if in this toxic atmosphere. Will you?LouBarlow wrote: ↑28 Mar 2023, 11:27As opposed to your positive contributions I suppose? Re: Where's the news coverage
I am actively supporting my union by doing everything they ask of me thus far, including paying my subs for 20+ years, striking when told to, voting for deals in the past I have been instructed to vote for. None of that changes my right to offer my opinion on this forum, and yes, it is undeniably a negative one every time I post, because every stage of this dispute has been fumbled by the CWU and you and me are paying for it. Supporting the union doesn’t mean you can’t criticise it. This isn’t a football club that inspires blind loyalty.timbo1234 wrote: ↑28 Mar 2023, 19:28I am actively supporting my union who have been duped into talks with an employer which has no moral compass and is determined to demoralise and destroy it's workforce. Bored to tears with a year of pussyfooting around with half arsed strikes and empty threats of action from this Union.
Honestly, most of us in my unit have completely lost faith in the CWU.

Just seen something on workplace taken from Darren Jones twitter page ... I've tried to copy it, but not working - I'm not that tech savvy, sorry
And I'm not on twitter ...
Basically, he said it's scandalous if it's the case that RM want to put the letters side into administration and if that happens the government will take letters on and his select committee will be part of the process.
Not sure if this is just DJ's thoughts or he has some insider knowledge...

So Darren Jones isn't all what he is hyped up to be. RM bosses went in that committee gleefully wanting to be publicly shamed and Dazza gave it to them and give them a helping hand in reducing the USO. I watched it and I could sense the smirk inside ST and co because its exactly what they wanted to happenAcca Dacca wrote: ↑28 Mar 2023, 20:26jbo5066 wrote: ↑28 Mar 2023, 20:15Just seen something on workplace taken from Darren Jones twitter page ... Instead of the union telling us the strike dates, I think they should lay down 3 strike options for us and it should be put to a vote...I.e. 1 week all out, 2 all out. A month all out
