If this deal is rejected and RM do enter administration, there WILL BE NO PAY RISE AT ALL. I understand the feelings being expressed but the consequences for RM and CWU of a no vote could be catastrophic. It could result in massive job losses and RM being sold off . The CWU would not exist. It is a massive gamble to vote no. There is no guarantee that the government will take it back into public ownership and keep the current staff and T&Cs. I am voting yes so that the union and the members exist to fight another time.
Vote for the crap deal and hope for a better one in the future, or RM might go bust.

Such a pathetic argument, but the only one that the CWU have got. Because there's nothing good about the deal itself.
Everybody has the choice. You cannot change anything about any job if you don't have one. It's not pathetic it's a choice we will make . I would also like to see the deal you WOULD vote for.

If you have any morals, standards, self respect and pride you'll vote NO to this absolute shambles of a one way agreement.

There is not a chance in hell I'll put my name to that, no f***ing way on Gods earth... and I've read the room :evil/mad :evil/mad :evil/mad

I get the feeling some people are being Frightened into Voting Yes.... worried about there not being a job in the future .... will RM have to go into administration? .... Will the Government take over the USO and take us back into Public Ownership? :hmmmm

I haven't got the answers but I'll be buggered if I'm going to get Frightened into accepting a Crap deal just because we're basically being blackmailed over the decision. :no no

Either a lot of people have got a bloody good thing going in their office, or they're unaware of how the world works outside RM, but personally I don't think this job's worth worrying about anymore. It's not as if it's a plumb job with brilliant opportunities, a great salary and fantastic pension. :thumbdown

ST and his cronies have totally screwed up what used to be a decent, enjoyable job, and they're trying to make it even crappier! :cuppa

I do not feel under threat for voting yes. I feel FRIGHTENED about not having a job. It's OK for people who live in a populated area with lots of job vacancies.
Morals, pride and self esteem do not pay the bills. If we vote no then we must be prepared to take the consequences . I'm not prepared to do that and put my family's future at risk.

I would reluctantly vote for a deal with a crap pay offer ( like this one) and tough modernisation (like this one) if I had to.

But I will NOT ever vote for a deal that needlessly attacks workers on things like sickness and how fast we're working ( like this one).

Actually the union throwing in the towel by agreeing this deal is more scary than them actually fighting it.

Right now RM must think they have the upper hand massively. If this deal gets voted in, it won't be long before RM go on the attack again in 2025 and with a weak union there'd be little stopping them making swathes of changes, that could reduce the employee count further.

So in short, if you want job security you need a strong union, not one who is prepared to capitulate.

So you ARE being Frightened into voting Yes? I can understand how some people may feel, but to put it another way .... Do you feel RM really deserve your Loyalty and Industry after treating you this way ? :hmmmm

For anyone with more than half a dozen years left in the job I'd seriously be looking for an exit strategy. Get a job that treats you better. You could compare this job to an abusive relatioship .... How long are you willing to put up with it before you do something? :cuppa

I do value myself and what I have done in my life. You know nothing about me but you feel you can make snide remarks. I take it you are in a situation where you can easily get another job or have other income. Vote what you like with your backbone and stand up straight in the dole queue.

Judging by this Poll it is a resounding no , so far. I have had to go in through a link to post this. I feel this topic should be unlocked and prominent on the site right now!!
