Do not do opinions, neither obligated to say either being a private matter the voting paper.
As I remember the CWU got an injunction aganst it for contravening members privacy and voting

It’s amazing that Unite and unisons pay their members to strike, yet CWU don’t, you know why because it’s an incentive for them to strike deals.Weetrogg2 wrote: ↑30 Nov 2022, 16:54No they won’t and I wouldn’t expect them to, I expect my union to get me reasonable pay and decent T&Cs which we currently have (because of the union) and the reason we’re striking is because the business want to remove that.supermandan2018 wrote: ↑30 Nov 2022, 16:37And comments like this sicken me when 3 young lads are at there wits ends and being told to basically let your family suffer and support a union that has little help or support available but want our support 100% ??? Irony?? They want your support but have no support for struggling members?
So these people that think it’s wrong would they see these lads kids suffer, starve, be homeless?? Bet the union won’t pay his rent/mortgage!!
If people can’t afford too or are not willing too lose £400 a month to keep these T&Cs how the hell will they survive on SSP or when there supplements are taken away??? If we lose this dispute RM will remove everything we currently have.
No excuse for strike breaking![]()
Yes there are terms and conditions being lost but not all of them.
People say Royal Mail are a dictatorship but it goes both ways, both need to come to a deal soon, we may not like it but we as the union need to concede on some issues otherwise we aren’t negotiating and we’re no better than Thompson.
Are you kidding, the SSP is for 3 days, we’ve lost more than that striking.
And there is the big issue, SUPPLEMENTS, guess you’re an ex PHG being paid a job you haven’t done since 2000, but hay we don’t have a 2 tier workforce cause that’s what the union are fighting against!!
Are you aware that under the pathway to change agreement they couldn’t touch our terms and conditions, until we initiated Industrial action which voided the agreement, but CWU forget to mention this fact.
Thompson baited Ward and he fell into the trap.
FYI £700 lost for me if all strikes go ahead this month.
UCW went on strike for 6 weeks in the 70s 3 weeks in the 80s, since I joined RM in the 90s I’ve lost count of the number of times we’ve been out officially and unofficial. Generations have fought for these’perk’.
If you seriously think RM are not going to carry on attacking our T&Cs you are mistaken![]()
Yes I will lose £700 and my wife also works for RM too. So I agree with you it’s £1400 for us both!
Mrs started in 90’s too.
70’s / 80’s and 90’s, your talking 30/40/50 years ago, whether we like it or not times have changed and that is a long time ago.
They may well do attacking and I reckon they will but that was for our union to decide where they drew the line and get us a deal through negotiations which have all but collapsed as far as I’ve read.
CWU say they win every battle and always get the best deal.
Saturday premium? GONE!!
NDA? GONE!!
Final salary pension!! GONE!!
We will end up getting a deal that’s Made out to be the best deal but will lose allowances.

Glad you agree that proportional response to executive action was needed.Getting your John Hancock on the ballot paper and a massive yes vote is one thing, boots on the ground, another.
Unlike Rico Back, Simon Thompson is the quiet one and the one to be concerned with his long-term objectives. Think the Regulator is behind his motives.
It is obvious a walk out is going to happen, so best start putting away a few quid each week as a strike fund.
Unless the CWU does the same as in the 2009 dispute, turnout cannot be guaranteed. That is Mail Centre walk out one day, delivery office next, followed by VOC. It crippled Royal Mail and employees only lost one days pay a week. Everybody is happy. For some reason, the CWU is reluctant to replicate this successful course of action.
It is most important they maintain the enthusiasm of the members
But no matter what, this is an endgame for both Royal Mail and the CWU if these changes are instigated by executive action and no proportional response maintained.

I’d rather be skint die on my feet than work for these Royal Mail twats at the moment
You’re complaining about there’s other jobs out there for these lads maybe it’s you who should be looking for other jobs if you’re no longer happy with your employment.
We are a private company and like any company whether I or anyone else like it is all about money for shareholders.
There are very few jobs out there that pay as well, yes there is a few but there are also very limited number of jobs where we get the perks we get.
Paid breaks, very good sick pay. And to be fair the wage isn’t awful.
Have you got kids???
Have you ???
Yes 4 kids, all under 5, struggling to feed them, don’t eat myself half the time. Borrowing money from family left, right and centre and now Defaulted on my mortgage last month supporting my union.
And as far as I can see we are in a worst position than we were at the end of August.
Yes. A backbone to face up to bullies like you to protect and support my family.

We all know who the financially desperate ones are, and the money grabbing ones are. One is very easy to forgive, while the other will be a pariah destined to be shunned for years by their peers.

All with young families and down to their last pennies. All have asked our union rep for help to be met with same "we're all in the same boat" answer. You can see the anguish they're are going through. Speaking to them it was very hard for me to feel any sort of anger towards them crossing the picket line.
Peoples savings are getting exhausted, mental health being kicked from pillar to post. You can talk about the future but for many its about the here and now.
So Royal Mail AND the CWU get this sorted, please. There is no excuse, never ever cross a picket line .
Me and my wife both work for RM and I agree the financial strain is tough and causing issues but there is no excuse for going in![]()
Loads of them on here now , ignore.
Postman for 15 years, delivery & processing.
Just goes to show, like many other posts I’ve seen, oh wait this guy has his own opinion and thoughts and doesn’t agree with us.
He Must be a manager!!!!
Seems to be the standard reply when someone disagrees with you!![]()

Okay fine I agree they do have more members but also a valid point about paying us, we don’t get asked!Clappedoutpostie wrote: ↑30 Nov 2022, 17:44supermandan2018 wrote: ↑30 Nov 2022, 17:16
That’s funny. It’s amazing that Unite and unisons pay their members to strike, yet CWU don’t, you know why because it’s an incentive for them to strike deals.
They have far more members, pay higher subs and are in multiple industry’s so unlikely to be out on strike at the same time, that’s why they can pay wages. It should be a conversation the CWU has with member if we wish to pay higher subs when this is all over
Yes there are terms and conditions being lost but not all of them.
That’s ok then![]()

We have already conceded a lot, we are faced with more threats by the day, what else do you suggest we concede in the face of that?
Are you kidding, the SSP is for 3 days, we’ve lost more than that striking.
For now
And there is the big issue, SUPPLEMENTS, guess you’re an ex PHG being paid a job you haven’t done since 2000, but hay we don’t have a 2 tier workforce cause that’s what the union are fighting against!!
As long as it doesn’t effect me feck em hey
Are you aware that under the pathway to change agreement they couldn’t touch our terms and conditions, until we initiated Industrial action which voided the agreement, but CWU forget to mention this fact.
Yeah
Thompson baited Ward and he fell into the trap.
Should he have rolled over and had his belly tickled?
FYI £700 lost for me if all strikes go ahead this month.
£700 not gained for me if all strikes go ahead this month. I have had the privilege of spending some time with mates and got to know some from our office that I didn’t really know. They will all be good mates for life after going through this together
Also check on google for Union subscription fees, not as expensive as you think.
I get zero allowances but the defined area, if they take it away so be it, and no I didn’t say that, I work in processing but have done deliveries and have always said delivery guys should get more allowances than indoor staff, working cold/hot weather, worst one for me was rain, so no I think some allowances should go that are older than fossils but yes some should stay, isn’t that for the union to agree to the majority again? What benefit the majority of members as they could never satisfy everyone.
No but all the other actions he keeps talking about should have been used before we striked and ripped up our own agreements.
All overtime is gone now anyway, so why didn’t we all work to rule, stop doing overtime to clear all the work. Do the rallies that’s are coming up first, make strike action the last resort, feel we rushed in thinking 2/3 days strike and we’d get an agreement like we normally would.
And to you I hold no illwill and glad you’ve found new friends, our job isn’t everything family and friends are

Re: Breaking point
My advice to them is, do yourselves a favour and find another job.
Royal Mail is a s**t company NOW. A job in deliveries is s**t NOW. Management disdain for their staff is at an all-time high NOW.
If their capitulation becomes the norm, then this company, this job, and the disdain for staff from managers, is all set to get even worse.
This is a job very few want, a company very few actually want to work for.
The recent 'register your interest for redundancy' showed that. Over-subscribed almost as soon as it went live.

Re: Breaking point
Economic conditions have seriously worsened since any ballot papers were last submitted, for many this was a knee jerk reaction at the perceived injustice of the imposed 2% raise, and the quest for an improved offer, one that has ultimately materialised in the 9% offering, albeit over 18 months, Royal Mail relies on the financial health of its customers, will there be any appetite for a raise in stamp prices for example when everyone’s tax brackets have been frozen for a number of years and fuel costs remain high due to the drop in value of the ££.
To those who suggest that members should go without holidays, beers, festivals etc, well let’s just all go back into lockdown shall we
