That is because there were clear mail centres with no backlogs. Anyone claiming mail volume isn’t declining is deluded. I think I had about 7 flats today for my entire round. Looking at my frame before delivery it was less than a 50% call rate today.

Thats great for your delivery.Yours isnt mine and i had more than you,am i deluded no,do i think mail was stored somewhere other than certain mail centres yes.A lot of mail is 2 or 3 weeks old mail hidden parcels not.But royal mail dont prioritise parcels.

Everyone knows about the strike action, that it's on going with no resolution in sight, that once there's a backlog it's anyone's guess, they see their regular postie has been preplaced by some one-day random - businesses and the public aren't going to trust the service again until all this is over.

They may prefer the post - for now - but they are finding alternatives, and the longer this goes on ...

If it has been hidden somewhere, someone must know.

Except I spent all of Christmas week dealing with customers who posted tracked items on the 7th and 8th December that weren't processed until the 22nd and 23rd December; there are application forms for Royal Mail services submitted on similar dates that weren't received to be processed until the 29th and 30th December.

So one of two things happened

1 - Royal Mail processed over two weeks of mail, during the busiest period of the year, with 4 days of IA in that period for the MCs and DOs to be clear and for there to be no backlog

2 - There was 14-16 days of mail hidden somewhere

The tracking numbers exist showing items picked up early December not even being given an initial scan into an MC until literally the day before Christmas, not just single items but item after item after item.

I deliberately didn’t say *all* MCs were clear, but the ones with backlogs were in the minority. Ours cleared every day.

Royal Mail are always crying about how they are losing money but yesterday in my mate's MC they had casual staff folding mail bags on £20 per hour . Yet another example of being lead by a tinpot management .

That’s not sustainable.

Still recieving second class from the beginning of December the 2nd being the earliest, Christmas cards aplenty mostly unranked or with a suspiciously blurred franking impossible to make out, quite a few done in Sheffield.
Anyway brought back 12 bags of mail today all to be thrown back in again tomorrow, packets and some failed tracked.
Its the same across entire office.

Yet another mate down the pub comment attacking Angard Staff??

The reality being the amount of Angard staff required on any day or night depends on advance traffic forecast on what is coming into the mail centre to be processed that night for delivery. Angard staff are the bare minimum and never stop in bull rings, etc. The last few weeks they have been on the manual letters all night clearing all the Christmas cards rejected from the machines.
