I didn’t realise that people were dropping off children, or other people they care for, at such early hours already. I can appreciate parents and other carers having to make arrangements for both dropping off and picking up children, but I didn’t appreciate that twenty minutes earlier, when you are talking early hours anyway, would change that much. Thanks for the explanation.Subman wrote: ↑12 Aug 2023, 08:29It is both a change to the starting time and a longer day.
Anyone with caring responsibilities may have difficulties.
Someone caring for a person who goes to a special school may need to be the person to drop them off and/ or collect them. These changes may impact on the employee and a person with a disability.
Anyone who cares for anyone, should that be a parent, partner or friend will understand the huge problems that small changes can make.
Unless you are a person caring for someone it can be difficult to appreciate this.
So by spring/summer we'll have worked a week for free. Er how exactly does that work for us? Do we ever get those hours back? And if not how is it legal? And why didn't the CWU see this coming? Or are they okay with us working a week for nothing. I'm sure Dave Ward wouldn't work a week for f**k all.guardianangel wrote: ↑11 Aug 2023, 19:46Is there a form where we can fill in to be paid for the hours we work and not 8 months later,i'd like to be paid the extra 2 hours now and not left in Royal Mails bank getting interest, and next summer im quite happy to be paid for 35 hrs, this is a serious question for any union officials, will the union help me get paid for the hours worked as it is my legal right.
Just wait till next year and the system has lost all data of hours capture and you will be made to work till you drop!hazzeem025 wrote: ↑12 Aug 2023, 16:20So by spring/summer we'll have worked a week for free. Yeah I agree, it's more like a token gesture, the example I gave earlier about the guy at our place will be naturally taken care of in march, as you say that's when the proverbial will hit.LouBarlow wrote: ↑12 Aug 2023, 14:58I didn’t realise that people were dropping off children, or other people they care for, at such early hours already. To be honest, this exception is likely to be a bandaid on a gushing wound as the hours change in March will completely mess up these people’s plans anyway. 60-90 minute changes will definitely cause upheaval.

This issue is the biggest personal reason I voted no. I believe it is illegal to do this as it amounts to an illegal deduction from wages as protected by the Employment rights act 1996. I even contacted the Union legal dept to see if they would help me fight it, but all I got was a phone call from one of the CWU executive telling me that as this was what the Union wanted, they would not help me fight it but I could get my own lawyers. Thanks CWU!guardianangel wrote: ↑12 Aug 2023, 05:46I wonder what legal rights i would have if i refused the extra 2 hours unless i get paid ,and if i leave have whats owed me in cash not holiday.ted_e_bear wrote: ↑11 Aug 2023, 20:35Same, now we're stuck with this, like you I'd much prefer to be paid for whatever I work.guardianangel wrote: ↑11 Aug 2023, 19:46Is there a form where we can fill in to be paid for the hours we work and not 8 months later,i'd like to be paid the extra 2 hours now and not left in Royal Mails bank getting interest, and next summer im quite happy to be paid for 35 hrs, this is a serious question for any union officials, will the union help me get paid for the hours worked as it is my legal right.
11th December should be the last week, that is the so called 14th week,my 24 minutes early will be taken up sat in school traffic cant wait getting a shorter working week next year for sitting in a van this year, these tools are not fit to run a modern delivery company.worktotime wrote: ↑12 Aug 2023, 18:15is there a start and finish date nationally for this shite ? , as our dim has put the start date as the 4th Sept but no finish date , or has ward and co just f****d off.
Is it designed to get us out earlier though? Surely the extra 24 minutes will be taken up on IPS and take away from overtime hours in the morning? I can’t see us leaving the office any earlier.guardianangel wrote: ↑13 Aug 2023, 08:3611th December should be the last week, that is the so called 14th week,my 24 minutes early will be taken up sat in school traffic cant wait getting a shorter working week next year for sitting in a van this year, these tools are not fit to run a modern delivery company.worktotime wrote: ↑12 Aug 2023, 18:15is there a start and finish date nationally for this shite ? , as our dim has put the start date as the 4th Sept but no finish date , or has ward and co just f****d off.
You couldn't make it up, one of the big reasons for the strikes was because RM want us working up to an hour plus later, now all FT'ers have to start 24 mins earlier, which probably means finishing at least 15/20 mins earlier.LouBarlow wrote: ↑13 Aug 2023, 10:00Is it designed to get us out earlier though? , martin walsh give us a clue please.
I don’t see how you are going to finish earlier. The extra work is indoor work. You will still have the same finish time, until they all change next March of course.TopperGas wrote: ↑13 Aug 2023, 10:56You couldn't make it up, one of the big reasons for the strikes was because RM want us working up to an hour plus later, now all FT'ers have to start 24 mins earlier, which probably means finishing at least 15/20 mins earlier.LouBarlow wrote: ↑13 Aug 2023, 10:00Is it designed to get us out earlier though?
