Who would you rather get your information from? The people that are fighting for your T & Cs or the Times?

Both, really. As you say, RM probably leaked that info to their Tory mates but if anything that makes it worse that it wasn't mentioned elsewhere as it looks like the CWU are withholding information about the talks from us.
And that's why Simon does it, because he wants us divided and questioning the union and the point of the strikes

I'm sure you're right Clash and we probably all make the mistake of judging everything from the perspective of our own DO.

We're permanently Understaffed (which doesn't help), add a few Sick, and we're really struggling.

Personally I think Management quite like this we're "Running Lean" a lot of the excess is cleared up by the overtime Bandits (with our SHITE Rates of OT it hardly makes any difference to RM .... it's the same as employing another postie without the Leave, Pension ,NIC etc)

A lot of the area we cover could be considered Affluent, and what we miss out on Dominos & Aldi leaflets we make up for in Horsey Magazines, Gardening Magazines, RSPB, NT, CSMA, Caravanning and that's before you start on the Expensive Clothing Catalogues ... Boden etc!

That's the problem with Averages. On Average we're all delivering the same ... but some are Light (like yourself) and others are Heavy (like us).

Our depot is split between the rougher areas and the more upmarket. I have been without a partner since the start of Summer so have had a serious of newbies on 2 heavy rounds one on either side of a major A road. Even getting specials delivered on time has been a total nightmare with me usually having to stop and run.

I can count the number of days on one hand when I haven't booked OT, anything from 30 mins to 2+ hrs. Don't even mention leaflets - we seem to be getting more y-on-y and as a part-timer I either have to prep on a Saturday or take them home (I don't get paid for either), as for the other walk which is more affluent, they get even more and they are backed-up about 4 weeks.

Several walks regularly bring work back and last week we had 3 people cover our 2 walks for the first time since the pandemic, we still went over. Generally we leave the flex just taking out the tracked if we have to

As a depot we are low on staff due to people leaving and those on long term sickness.

We've had this before .... We know it shouldn't happen but Posties do what they "Feel" they need to do to get the work done. I suppose it's a sign of how much pressure some of us are under?

One lad used to take them home and his young kids used to help him sort them into Nests ready to throw into the frame ... never did agree with the idea. On the other hand we had another OLD guy that used to be an "Early Bird" that simply threw the bundles into black bin bags and sneaked them out to the wheelie bins! Moron even left the contract numbers on them (I Shite you not).

I would like to see more on national news like the train strikes not just facebook and twitter,seems we are losing the media battle.

FFS prep the d2d’s in Royal Mail’s time, not yours, and either claim even more OT or cut off. Someone else working for free, I know you are under pressure and I sympathise but don’t work for free

When I first started at rm a bloke realised he was going to miss kick off of footy and had a load of leaflets to deliver to every house (this was before d2d supplements and stuff). He was next to the river and threw them in. He thought it was a great idea until Monday came round and he was greeted with a pile of wet through leaflets. They had gone down stream and been dumped in the yard by a bloke that realised where they were from!! Needless to say he didn’t work for us long after that.

D2Ds should not be nested. Each leaflet is a separate contract and shouldnt be hidden inside another. And taking them home wtf. Free work must end! Clocking in clocking out is coming very soon work your hours and if you want extra work make sure you get paid.

I mean, the whole working past your time on delivery I think everyone will ask you the same question over and over again. But, seriously why is your manager letting you bring the D2Ds with you? Far as they keep harping on its classed as mail whether it's addressed or not. Sure you'd get into deep trouble for doing the same for normal mail and you got caught with it. Legit, don't even entertain the idea of doing this for them.
