Not wanting to attend work because of concerns about a family member at home
i live with someone who has cancer and is receiving chemotherapy. She has received a letter from the NHS today about staying in for 12 weeks and that everyone in the household must shield her. I simply can't do it because of my shitty uncaring couldn't give a a f**k employer
!!!!!! If she catches it from me then I will go to every newspaper and never give Royal Mail peace!! I'll take them to court too! Absolute disgrace of a company.

God I am so so sad reading these stories. I hope you and you families are OK.
Maybe just try not to worry about the money for now and do what us best to stay healthy? Easier said than done for a lot of people, I know.
The company we work for are absolute scum. There's no two ways about it.

CWU apparantly in dispute/negotiations with RM about this.
BT initially refused to pay people who are self isolating with a partner who has recieved the official NHS letter re;isolation, but have now relented due to CWU pressure.
The question is what are you doing CWU for posties inn the same postition ? Of which I am one.
No update now for at least a week.
It's actually a fairly small number of people.

The CWU seem to be dragging there heels, keep checking each day for an update but nothing happening. Dreadful.Blue Moses wrote:CWU apparantly in dispute/negotiations with RM about this.

The point is there's still no change in the position so watching another one of Terry's self help videos is not really an update is it?rogersh wrote:Mister T . Perhaps you missed my previous post with a link to the latest update.
The update is..... there is no update?

"The CWU seem to be dragging there heels, keep checking each day for an update but nothing happening. Dreadful."
So the point I responded to is that the video update is available to view for the posters who stated they cannot find the updates.
After they view the update video they can make their mind up if they agree with your opinion.
The next update from the CWU DGSP is scheduled for Wednesday 29 April.

I think you'll find he was looking for an update pertaining specifically to the topic of the thread, which is why I assume he posted in this thread.

Yes, you are quite correct about this. I'm on unpaid leave as my wife has had stem cell/bone marrow transplant also had sepsis last summer and speaking to her specialist the other day I was told doing the best thing by shielding i.e..not going into work. I'm reading all posts covering my situation and watching the CWU on Facebook which sometimes goes off topic.Woody Guthrie wrote:I think you'll find he was looking for an update pertaining specifically to the topic of the thread, which is why I assume he posted in this thread.

On 14th April 2020 the CWU wrote to Sally Ashford Chief HR Officer Royal Mail Group. Edit from that letter.
“The CWU believe that your policy needs to be extended to show compassion to the following individuals:
Those that need to isolate because they have vulnerable people in their home.
The CWU’s opinion is that all of the above should be isolating on full pay, other major employers such as BT and the Post Office now have emergency polices in place regarding full pay for such circumstances.”
24th April - The video update by terry Pullinger did not state a response to that letter to change the current stance by Royal mail on that specific policy.
Obviously the video will incorporate different issues.
I have a colleague in a similar situation as yourself and wish Royal Mail would adopt the policy of BT & the Post Office.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
