You can get a test if you have no symptons...
Who can get a free test
you’ve been asked to get a test to confirm a positive result

https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test
Try booking a test online using the page you quoted you'll get this even if you answer the first quesion as yes I am an essential worker.
You cannot have a coronavirus test at this time

We can only give tests to people with symptoms and people who have been asked to get tested. That's because there's a limited number of tests available right now.

Also, you may not be able to get a test if your symptoms started too long ago.

If one of these situations applies to you, there are steps you can take to look after yourself and others.
I'm a contact of someone who has tested positive for coronavirus, but I do not have symptoms

You need to self-isolate for 14 days from when you were in contact with that person.
you’ve been asked to get a test to confirm a positive result
That applies to question 3...
Has the person been asked to get a follow-up test?

For example, their first test was unclear or they need to confirm a possible positive result.

As already said you cannot get a test unless you have symptoms. The part that says 'unless you have been asked' does not include being asked by your boss, your mate, your gp or even a school even if you have been in contact with someone that who has now tested positive. This reduces the risk of thinking you are ok if the result is negative when infact you are incubating the virus and now potentially spreading it everywhere. It also means not being tested twice if you then do develop symptoms as you will have to be tested again.

It only includes for example if your local council is running a campaign, if you are taking part in a trial or being admitted to hospital for a proceedure and even they should be arranging the test for you. You will be given the correct procedure to follow in these circumstances.
Getting a test to confirm a positive is when you have been given a rapid test (LFD) you are then given a full lab PCR test to confirm it.

you need a test and you need to isolate, you can order a postal test which arrives next day, you will get an email back within 1 hr of ordering with an order number, give this to manager and let you rep know.
You don't get tested if you don't have symptoms.
This is wrong. You can get a test even if you have no symptoms & you should get tested if you've been working with anybody that has tested positive to confirm if you have or haven't been infected.

I know several people who have got themselves tested in a similar situation.

EDIT - Just to add on because I've seen a couple of you mention you only get a test with no symptoms "if you've been asked to", a bit of common sense is needed particularly in this instance. You don't need anybody to tell you to get tested if you've been sharing a vehicle with them for at least a week I presume in the run up to their positive test.

Or don't get tested, your choice, either way you shouldn't be in work until you either get a negative test result or until your self isolation period has ended.

This is wrong.
No it's not.
It's NHS and government guidance.
Who can get a free test

You can only get a free NHS test if at least one of the following applies:

you have a high temperature
you have a new, continuous cough
you’ve lost your sense of smell or taste or it’s changed
you’ve been asked to get a test by a local council
you’re taking part in a government pilot project
you’ve been asked to get a test to confirm a positive result

You can also get a test for someone you live with if they have symptoms.

What to do when you get your test result

If you test negative (the test did not find coronavirus):

keep self-isolating for the rest of the 10 days from when you were last in contact with the person who has coronavirus – as you could get symptoms after being tested
