That goes without saying, but if the union had had anything about them they would have pushed RM and gotten something in the agreement that would have put an end to the runners and jokers carving the job up for their own self-centred benefit and the negative effect these people have on the rest of the office, especially those on the monster walks who generally cop all the bullying and harassment from incompetent and lazy managers. As it is from what I recall from the new agreement it's pretty much business as usual and the runners, jokers and favourites will be able to carry on as normal making deals and going home early.scoobydo79 wrote: ↑28 Feb 2021, 07:51No some of the postmen are blind to it as well.We have quite a few who like to race round and skip their breaks and go home 2 1/2 hours early on a regular basis. Those hours will add up and be taken out of the office thanks to some F wits
In any other company outside of RM a clocking in and out system would sort out all the problems and bring about a "fairer" workload for all. If you started before your time without prior consent you wouldn't get paid for it or be allowed to go home early. If you did clock out early you wouldn't get paid for it. End of. And you'd only get paid overtime if your clock card showed you'd genuinely worked beyond your contracted hours. The union, in my opinion, have just pandered to a hardcore select section of overtime barons and runners and possibly select section(s) of the country.Dorset Plodder wrote: ↑28 Feb 2021, 09:21

The data captured won't just be aimed at single duties .... even though some individuals may be finishing 2 1/2 hours early .... it'll be aimed at the DO in general.

The union have missed a brilliant opportunity to bring more unity to the membership, create more F/T jobs and possibly jobs in general.

No idea if there is that much spare time, I certainly never seen to make anytime. I have no reason to disbelieve the rep. Over the last month they have nearly doubled the duty’s that get absorbed and clearly they will be the first bits that go in the revision. The absorbtion is getting cleared but only because people are leaving bits of their own duty to do it. It’s madness at the moment. I don’t think these revisions will be like anything we have seen before.Dorset Plodder wrote: ↑28 Feb 2021, 08:56I'd be surprised if they were quoting figures of 15%Grumpyoldmailman wrote: ↑24 Feb 2021, 19:03According to our rep this morning they are looking at taking a minimum of 15% of the duty’s out of our office, obviously they are going to try for more.Does your DO actually have that much spare time ... Honestly? You say they'll probably try for more.

Normally they'll be looking for savings of approx 5% ..... and in my DO they don't normally get that.![]()

Re: How are things likely to change?
Realistically how many DOs will RM get the hours out of that they want? My gut feeling is that it'll be less than 25%. Frankly I can't see the hour reduction happening in most DOs. If it does happen then it'll be off the start of the shift (enough to avoid RM paying shift allowances in some places?)
