One question I have always wondered about and is of value for a current issue we have where a tracked item requiring signature on delivery (tricky I know in today's world) was delivered to the wrong address. I am being told that another (2nd) address is on the parcel - imagine it is just possible that someone else's address label might have transferred over - and that the parcel was delivered to that other address.
However I always understood that the destination post code was tied to the tracking ? No ?
Item was sent by an Amazon shop (not Amazon themselves) and the sender respected accurately the right address.
It seems then the system should not permit a delivery to the wrong post code even if there was an attempt to deliver same especially as a signature (so a special code maybe nowadays ?) is required ... so the item can't just be left (or can it?). I was thinking that the name of the receiver was supposed to be recorded rather than a signature itself.
Thanks for some insight !

Tracking reference linked to destination Post Code ?
I don’t believe that there is a system in place to prevent delivery to the wrong address. But also, my understanding is that the law says that the postie must deliver the item to the address on the item. So if the computer system had a different delivery address input, the postie would have to go with the address on the item.

Thanks .. but if then there are 2 different addresses on a parcel would it not be possible to identify the correct one using post code data from the tracking ? In this case it seems the item was delivered to this 'new' address which would have had a different post code.
At this time I don't know how the 2nd address appeared .. maybe a loose sticky label that got stuck to the original parcel when together in the transit system.

I think you are correct that if there are clearly two addresses on the parcel then the postie should not just choose one at random.
However, none of this is your problem. You didn’t receive the item and therefore you are entitled to a refund from the seller.

Thanks again 'sir' .. in fact they say here that the item has been recovered and should be delivered next week.Snaggletooth wrote:You didn’t receive the item and therefore you are entitled to a refund from the seller.
All a bit behind as it was a critical item for the wife's dancing competition which "closed" for online entries today (2 days after the 2 day tracked delivery due date).
