Package "departed" Heathrow 3 weeks ago but not entered RM system yet?

I have a package shipped via USPS from US to UK (LB395976508US), USPS tracking says

Your item departed a transfer airport in HEATHROW, LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM on August 1, 2020

but no update since. I tried contacting USPS and RM on Twitter with only RM responding to say

Apologies, but we're unable to view any details at all on our system regarding item number LB395976508US. This could be due to the item not being sent on a tracked service, or an incorrect tracking number.

Presumably because that's the international tracking number, not the local UK tracking number. Guessing it's in customs, but as it's coming up to 3 weeks I'm starting to be a bit concerned since customs usually doesn't take this long (and I had a package clear customs in a day the other week) and I have no actual proof it's in customs. It's simply a strap and buckle too so not like it's something particularly questionable.

Not sure if any of you can shed any additional light? I don't have much choice at this point than wait for it to have been a month before contacting the seller and getting a replacement or refund

The contents shouldn't be a problem, unless made in a prison (possible in the US) or infringing British copyright / trademarks.

You won't get proof it is in customs because they don't do tracking, but I have looked at your tracking and I am 99% sure that's where it is.

Assuming that customs clearance times are customs clearance times are constant is wrong. Items get pulled at random for extra checks. There are plenty of recent examples on this site of items from the US to the UK taking 3-4 weeks to clear customs.

My USPS Parcel was showing in London on 30/7/2020
It then “departed” London the same day!
On 2/8/2020, it showed as “departed JFK INTL, In Transit”
I had NO FURTHER Tracking updates since.......until THIS EVENING!
My Parcel is awaiting Customs Clearance/import taxes/duty etc.

I honestly was beginning to give up hope!

It’s just taking “extra extra extra AGES” at the moment.

Nice to see that it finally made it out, I saw a lot of posts on Twitter about similar issues but those people usually never update lol. Still no updates yet but fingers cross it won't take over a month before it escapes

Edit: 4 September now and still no update so it's been more than a month now
