International Postage Stamps Question

Post by Celtos »

Hello All,

I have a potentially tricky question i've been trying to find an answer to, and what I have found thus far is quite conflicting.

Say, I want to send a letter from the UK to the USA, and it costs £1.42. Under the Universal Postal Union rules, would I be able to use £1.42 worth of, say, Swiss stamps to do this? I've heard that any stamps can be used for international mail in particular, provided that the correct postage amount is used.

Thanks in Advance

Any stamps can be used as long as they were issued in the country where the item is being posted. So you can’t use those Swiss stamps in that way.

Also, you can’t use private operator’s stamps to send items via Royal Mail.
