Legal Documents International Tracked & Signed - missing for 1 month

Post by RMhand2 »

I was expecting a package containing all of my most important documents (original birth certificate, degree, identity, etc.) via 'international tracked & signed' to be shipped from the UK to the US. It was posted Apr 14th, and then scanned into Langley HWDC on Apr 16th:

"In Transit. Your item is now leaving the UK. More information will be available when it arrives in the destination country."

RM tracking says "Handed to Delivery Partner". But USPS tracking says "Origin Post is Preparing Shipment. We have received notice that the originating post is preparing to dispatch this mail piece."

It has been close to a month now. I acknowledge that RM are experiencing delays and staffing shortages due to current health risks, so I don't blame them for this and know that staff lives are far more important that some paper. But I just want to understand with who, or where, my package is? If its lost then I can at least start finding out how to replace these documents (if that's possible?)

Does this mean it was handed off to USPS? Or is this still within RM's possession? Is it likely that this is in pile at customs? Can anyone shed any light on what this last scan from a month ago might mean?

It is most likely in US customs, it won't appear to be in the US because like the UK it won't get handed over to USPS until customs release it.

I know the US have been hit pretty hard, I had my package coming from the US spend 11 days in transit to move to another facility only 3 hours away from where it were previously.

I waited around a month for something to be released from customs before a pandemic so that isn't an amount of time to be worried about.

Hopefully it'll be released soon.
