Dear Royal Mail Chat,
I'm writing on behalf of my close friend from the US who is also a seller on Etsy, as I am in the UK. We've been unable to find any contact details for Langley HWDC. I'm not sure if I can go to one of my local Royal Mail depots and enquire about Langley for her?
Unfortunately it appears that multiple items she sent to customers in the UK have been stuck at Langley HWDC for the past 4-6 weeks, and now 2 of her customers in the UK are wanting refunds.
As the items are still showing as in transit, would my friend be able to get compensation for the refunds that she has to issue, and if so, would she have to do it via Royal Mail, or from her original postal carrier in the US?
She is also now worried that she will get many more refund requests as the majority of her sales are international, and will have difficulty in providing those refunds.
Yes, we understand that Covid-19 has caused a delay, and health always comes first. She is however a single mother with Etsy as her sole income, combined with limited financial support from the US, lack of communication from Royal Mail, and a possible surge in refunds from the majority of her customers which she won't be able to provide, it doesn't help her situation, so some clarity would be greatly appreciated for her.

Compensation will depend on the service used, and to start that she needs to contact the USPS.
There is no contact number of HWDC, or more correctly Customs, because that's the most likely place its been delayed.
It's nice that you want to help your friend, but a trip to the local delivery office won't help as they won't have the information available.
However, your friend might try tweeting @royalmailhelp by DM (they'll need tracking numbers and address they are going to) but they only operate 9am to 5pm UK time. Its a long shot but it may help.
