I have more than 10 items stuck at LANGLEY HWDC. This is very unfair. Is royal mail going to recruit more hands to sort out this stuck parcels since each item is paid for and not free delivery

Chances are that they might have had to cut down on staff numbers due to social distancing. Any Royal Mail office will be limited as to how many extra staff they can bring in without compromising on the 2m spacing between people

"I have more than 10 items stuck at LANGLEY HWDC. This is very unfair. Is royal mail going to recruit more key workers fearfully risking their lives and their families lives in unsafe conditions with drastically reduced staffing and extra safety measures in place to deliver an essentials-only service during a lethal global pandemic to sort out this stuck parcels since each item is paid for and not free delivery"StuckatLangley wrote:I have more than 10 items stuck at LANGLEY HWDC. Posties aren't immortal. Your stuff doesn't magically arrive safely - workers have to do it, and there's a plague on.

To be fair I do think its down to the Royal Mail higher-ups not managing customers expectations.
They really should just make it very clear their service is a bit of a disaster zone right now (For obvious reasons) and then its down to the customers whether they want to take the risks involved or not, maybe use other couriers etc - that might also relieve some of the burden on the remaining RM staff and reduce the risks of not being able to keep the social distancing rules intact etc.
Less unhappy customers, less risk to RM staff, and also potentially help save some non RM jobs and livelihoods - if you knew how much our missing (2 and half weeks so definately never to reappear now) Special Delivery parcel was worth to the company it would make your eyes bleed, let alone water, easily enough to take some small companies down, put it that way :( - and i doubt we're the only ones.

Are you guys talking about international packages going from the UK or to the UK?
Because I have an international package heading from the UK to an EU country which has been stuck "processing" at Langley HWDC for 12 days at this point.
What doesn't make sense to me is that a package which was posted to the same exact address last week made it through Langley HWDC already. You would think they would prioritize packages which have been sitting there for a while.
Does anyone else have an EU bound package stuck at Langley HWDC for a long time?

Staffing is not the only issue. Some countries have stopped international flights altogether, most other routes have reduced capacity, and priority is being given to medical supplies. So even if RM could sort out all the staffing issues people mention above, international mail would still be running slow.StuckatLangley wrote:I have more than 10 items stuck at LANGLEY HWDC. And that is assuming that your items haven’t been stopped because they contravene customs or Dangerous Goods rules.

HWDC delays, in normal times, are not because of Royal Mail, but because of customs. They are a Government body with legal powers and obligations, and therefore are answerable to no-one least of all Royal mail.mister3030 wrote: What doesn't make sense to me is that a package which was posted to the same exact address last week made it through Langley HWDC already.
