Royal Mail - Parcel Force - Loss Parcel

Post by CostasCyprus »

I will try to explain you guys as better as I can.

I ordered my new phone device with contract and 2 phone cases from Amazon all total cost me £1600 (monthly contract nothing upfront). My brother in law got delivered everything at his house and because I'm in Cyprus for businesses we decided to ship it here. So he went to the closest Royal Mail paid £100 for Global Express to ship it to me threw Parcel Force. The £44 was insurance that covers £1200. 8 days after he dropped it at the post office I still have the same status (Advised) that means our network ParcelForce knows that your parcel is there at post office and we are going to collect it. Then after chasing i got an email that the courier passed from there got all the parcels but mine wasn't there. I was so angry so I send back there my brother in law to find out what happened. The lady at Royal Mail said that my parcel isn't there and maybe the courier got it and didn't scan it, what the hell that means? If he didn't scan it by accident then he would scan it later at his depot that didn't happen so my parcel never left from there. So she told us the courier stole it? Or I stole it but I blame the courier? Still responsible the Royal Mail if they left parcel gone without scan! Anyway now he just fill claim form to ParcelForce with all the details plus the values of what we bought and spend for shipping and the post office is going to post it to claim Centre (if they don't loss and that one). If they find it great if not what? I'm gonna got refunded £1200 for something that will cost me £1600? So £400- and without phone? I'm so angry with them!! Obviously is our fault that underinsured the parcel but the questions is WHERE IS MY PARCEL? Is there by any chance accidentally Royal Mail posted it straight to me without get involved Parcel Force? I dont know what happened!

Thanks guys

What's the tracking number?

I don't know what routing Parcel Force would use between the UK and Cyprus but if it's via Germany then that could cause a problem as Germany doesn't permit any lithium batteries into Germany in the post whether the final address is in Germany or whether it's passing through Germany on it's way to another country.

Royal Mail - Parcel Force - Loss Parcel

If I remember correctly, there should be a scan for acceptance at the Post Office. This happens automatically, as does the receipt. So, if your brother in law has a receipt then I think this is a fault with the tracking system. And also probably delays because of Covid-19.

Mobile phones do cause a lot of problems. Here is the list of rules that must be followed or the package can be seized:
Electronic devices connected to lithium batteries (including mobile phones, digital cameras, etc) where the battery is connected to the device.
Packaging guidelines: Each parcel must contain no more than four cells or two batteries installed in a device. For lithium ion/polymer batteries the Watt-hour rating must not exceed 20Wh per cell or 100Wh per battery. For lithium metal/alloy batteries the lithium content must not be more than 1g per cell or 2g per battery. The maximum net quantity of cells or batteries is 5kg per parcel. Each cell and battery must be of a type proven to meet the requirements of each test in the UN Manual of Tests and Criteria, Part III , section 38.3. Cells or batteries that are defective or damaged are forbidden. The equipment containing cells or batteries must be packed in strong rigid packaging and must be secured against movement within the outer packaging and packed to prevent accidental activation. Sender's name and address must be visible on the parcel. Country restrictions apply, please see our worldwide directoryOpens in new window for details. These items must be sent via the Post Office only, and presented at the counter.
If all of that was done correctly then I advise that your brother in law claims soon. Global Express claims for loss or damage must be made within 15 days of sending or they might not give you any money back.

Thanks for the information.
I dont really know about all those details. I just know we shipped the Samsung S20 Ultra and 2 silicone phone cases with total weight 0.75kg. We did the claim on day 10 because I knew about the 15 days policy that I can say is ridiculous! I just hope is something wrong with the systems the virus situation and I will get it soon.
