Late delivery!
I paid for a 48’hour delivery last Wednesday & my parcel still hasn’t come. I’ve tracked it & it says it’s just sitting in a mail centre, what’s the best way to sort this problem out?

The best way to sort this problem is to just wait. There is a global pandemic, Things aren't normal. The last figure I read was 26000 staff off sick. Couple that with a massive increase in volumes due to online shopping and back to back BH and you will get delays. Posties are being worked to death right now, id give em a little leeway.Kimmins90 wrote:I paid for a 48’hour delivery last Wednesday & my parcel still hasn’t come. Unbelievale that people are complaining about delays and service quality at this time.
This is not so much your fault, kimmins, but Royal Mail's. The company haven't communicated very well that customers can not expect anywhere near normal service right now.

If Royal Mail cannot guarantee the service they shouldn't have it on sale, Its not the customers fault for wanting the item in the timeframe that Royal Mail advertises regardless of the situation it is up to them to make sure they're selling products they can deliver or they should be explaining to customers why they can't or even changing tracked timeframes to keep them possible. just makes us postmen look bad when its the company not doing enough to allow us to do the job correctly.Ren Hoëk wrote:The best way to sort this problem is to just wait. Late delivery!
To be fair to RM. (I know
) They are at least trying to wwarn customers as they have a daily update page. Todays - 15th April says
https://personal.help.royalmail.com/app ... ice-update" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
https://personal.help.royalmail.com/app ... ice-update" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
So yes they are trying to warn people, but they also seem to be downplaying it as well.Wednesday 15 April 2020
Normal deliveries and collections should take place throughout the UK this week. However, despite our best endeavours, it’s likely some areas of the country will experience some level of disruption due to Coronavirus-related absences at local mail centres or delivery offices. We’re working hard to collect, process and deliver as much mail and parcels as possible in difficult circumstances.

Late delivery!
No, These are extraordinary times. For any company the size of RM it is difficult to be that agile in pricing. For something that will be temporary and exacerbated by the back to back bank holidays. Changing so quickly and flippantly only serves to confuse the customer. Keep in mind this packet was due Saturday as Friday is a non service day. So it's then a day late, Monday is a non service day so it is then due Tuesday. It didn't arrive on Tuesday so it is 2 days late. 2 days late is bad but it's certainly not as bad as what OP thinks is probably 5 days late.bergos wrote:If Royal Mail cannot guarantee the service they shouldn't have it on sale, Its not the customers fault for wanting the item in the timeframe that Royal Mail advertises regardless of the situation it is up to them to make sure they're selling products they can deliver or they should be explaining to customers why they can't or even changing tracked timeframes to keep them possible. just makes us postmen look bad when its the company not doing enough to allow us to do the job correctly.Ren Hoëk wrote:The best way to sort this problem is to just wait. I agree that RM should communicate that there may be delays, Which they have.
"Despite our best endeavours, it is likely that some areas of the country will experience a reduction in service levels due to coronavirus-related absences at their local mail centre or delivery office."
Clearly communicated and at greater length on the website. It is also fairly self explanatory that in this time of crisis things aren't going to be running normally and that we should expect delays and changes. The sender should also be communicating that there may be delays also.

How to sort it out? Go to your shed and create vaccine.Kimmins90 wrote:I paid for a 48’hour delivery last Wednesday & my parcel still hasn’t come. I’ve tracked it & it says it’s just sitting in a mail centre, what’s the best way to sort this problem out?

Perhaps it's a key component for the vaccine which is in the delayed parcel. Let's not be too judgmental.antcpfc wrote: How to sort it out? Go to your shed and create vaccine.

No one here will be able to help you. I seriously doubt you will have any luck with customer services either. There are severe back logs due to CV-19. Increased demand and staff shortages. From what iv gathered offices aren't scanning until they are ready for delivery.swordfish69 wrote:We posted 16 parcels on the 14th RM Tracked 48 and there's no tracking or scan at all. Just a question.
If he’s a postie, how come he doesn’t know about the workload at the moment and
If he’s not a postie, what’s he doing on here?

I would say to any members of the public asking about delays, non-scans etc.
Just wait. It's almost certainly not gone missing, it'll get there. It might just take time.
Very very little iin Royal Mail just goes missing once it's in the system. Relax.
