how late could a letter be?

I mailed a letter from UK to California on 10 Jan . Paid normal 1st class tariff -- ie not tracked. I think it was due to arrive "6-7" days after posting , but its still not there. Do you think it will ever arrive or is it just lost forever ? thanks

Just to add its real important the letter gets there - not a financial issue- just an issue of the heart so any assistance would be gratefully received.

Hopefully you don’t literally mean first class? Because that would mean you haven’t put enough postage on it.

While it would normally get there in about a week, there is no maximum time for International Standard. It is considered lost after 5 weeks.

I sent a christmas card first class international to to New York in 2018, it arrived Halloween 2019!
