Mount Pleasant - late bags. Sorting query

Post by glob »

Hi

We are account customers in London. Due to extremely heavy traffic in our area our mail bags were collected very late yesterday. Our sorting manager has said that all our sacks were taken to Mount Pleasant yesterday (I'd assume they got there after 8.15pm) but as of last night / today there is no scanning recorded on any of the 24/48 or Tracked mail.

Does anyone know when Mount Pleasant start opening and sorting sacks?

We have had experiences in the past with Royal Mail taking 1-2 weeks with delayed/mislaid sacks and it has cost us heavily. We ship out hundreds of parcels a day, most of them 24 or 24 Tracked so this is concerning us and we want to know how best to advise our customers.

Thanks

Hi glob. This forum is not an official Royal Mail website, but a forum for postal workers and customers to chat informally.
I used to work at Mount Pleasant before I retired. That was 7 years ago so things will have changed, but at that time Special Delivery (registered mail) was opened and dealt with immediately, but there was a 'cut off' time which I think was 8pm and mail recieved after then could not be guaranteed for next day delivery.
But at that time there were more vans going out on collection and they would almost always get back to depot before 8pm. Now with staffing cuts and drivers having more firms on their schedules to collect from they might miss the cut off time.

If it is an ongoing problem for you it would be best to phone the collection's office to find out why this is happening. You might need to arrange an earlier collection time.
