Wrong postcode, no return to sender

Post by Karin02 »

Hello!
So I’ve been sent a package 1st class tracked and have a tracking number. However, stupidly, I gave my friend the wrong postcode. I should have put N8 0QX but instead gave my old postcode, N4 1HW - they’re down the road from one another. The rest of the address was correct, hopefully including the city!
I have a few questions:
1. It was sent on New Year’s Eve, so it’s technically only been 1 working day (it’s the 2nd Jan today) - I assume it would safely arrive tomorrow had the postcode of been correct?
2. Should it get sent to a local centre (N4 one presumably) will the tracking info tell me that they were it’s being kept, and if so, could I collect it from that centre?
3. Being that I have this tracking number, could calling Royal Mail and letting them know what happened enable them to intercept the package and put the correct postcode?!
4. Is there anything I can do to make sure I get this package?!

I’m really hoping to get this package before the 1st feb and feel I may have really ruined that prospect :(

Looking on Royal mail branch finder both postcodes are covered by the same office, so although it may delay it a little there is a chance it will be delivered okay.
