Hi,
typing this while on hold with RM Customer Service 30mins & counting.
I am expecting a parcel from China that had an original Yanwen tracking number: PR031486826YP
All tracking for this Yanwen number is fine & on 6th June the parcel was issued a final destination tracking number for RM of: GV015760396GB
Now this tracking number shows that my parcel was received at Atherstone Intl RDC on 11th June & then presented to customs for assessment on 12th June, where it is still showing as pending.
This morning, 14th June my Postie presented me with a fee-to-pay card, great I thought, at last.
Unfortunately this great feeling did not last long as straight away I could see a problem, the fee to pay was no where near enough for the item I am expecting & I cannot imagine the customs letting me off a substantial amount. TYhe on looking further, the ref number on the fee-to-pay card was not the ref number of my item, it was: ZA066073683GB
Checking the tracking of this new ZA number showed that this parcel was apparently sent from Australia on 13th June via USA, today 14th June & direct to me. This is obviously not my parcel, even though the fee-to-pay card has my name & address written on it.
Finally while typing this I have got through to RM Customer Service & while as helpful as he could be the chap I was speaking to couldn't really do a lot other than suggesting that I go to my local PO, explain the situation to them & possibly ask to see the parcel.
Obviously I do not want to pay a customs fee for someone else's parcel just in order to see it & find that it is not mine.
The guy at RM CS said to just wait for my parcel with the real GV ref number to go through the system but I am obviously concerned that it has gone missing.

You need to go to the Delivery Office. The Post Office have nothing to do with this.

Yeah your local Customer Collection desk at the Delivety office is where you need to be. The staff will let you see the parcel and if it's anything like the other Chinese parcels it will have a list of the contents on the exterior. If it turns out to actually be your parcel, it's all good, if not, refuse it, no fee paid.

You will generally get better service if you either visit your local delivery office in person or catch a local postie and ask them for the phone number of the local delivery office. Much better than the general customer service phone number.
