Identifying Sender of Franked letter

Post by Galemac »

My son (13) has received an envelope (one of the smaller, brown, don not bend ones, usually used to send photographs) but it was completely empty and the self-seal strip at the side hadn't been used. There's no indication of who sent it - the envelope is franked with the date, the price and FP6115921 above an oblong bar code. Any suggestions for how I might find out who it is from? Thanks in advance. Gale.

Tracking numbers are composed of two letters followed by nine numbers & two more letters so you don't have the full number. Even with the number intact it would be hard to work out who the sender was though.

I think the customer is referring to these:

and as far as I know, the account number they are referring to is considered as confidential information (commercially sensitive) and therefore can't be divulged.

Though they may need to call Customer Services to confirm.

I would have thought that Royal Mail customer service team could contact the meter customer on your behalf and ask them to contact you about the package. Failing that the franking machine used is one supplied by Francotyp Postalia, and they should be able to do it too.
