Need Help

Post by bob1234 »

Hi
I sold an item on ebay recently(first ever time)it was sent via Royal Mail Special Delivery and insured upto the correct value. The item unfortunately was not delivered due to the receiver not being home.On the tracking information it says arrange redelivery or arrange collection. It has only been 1 day but the receiver has made no attempt to collect or arrange a redelivery.I have emailed them to make them aware just in case a note was not left.It could just be that they are busy but i am paranoid that they have changed their mind and do not want the item. This would be fine but i rather stupidly didnt include a return adress or any other information. The postage was paid online and i did include my details on the online form.Does this mean they will be able to return the item in the event of customer not collecting ?.I am really kicking myself as the item is a lot of money for me.
Thank you in advance for any replies.

If the buyer doesn't collect the parcel and there is no return address, the parcel will eventually go to the National Returns Centre. I don't know if the NRC can check the data you provided when buying the postage, but it would be easy to rectify the issue by sending in a P58inland form with the tracking number. So no harm done.

I would just advise that you shouldn't despatch parcels until the buyer has paid via Paypal. Otherwise you are opening yourself up to a lot of potential problems, including fraudulent buyers and a potential breech of your contract with eBay. Also you should always include a return address, not only because it avoids issues like this, but also because it is a crime to send certain items without one (e.g. mobile phones).
