MY ORIGINAL BIRTH CERTIFICATE HAS BEEN LOST??? HELP ME PLS!!!

Post by pimpurilla »

Hi there

Please somebody help!!

My tracking number is RR399501578HU and it says This item has been received at LANGLEY HWDC, United Kingdom. More information will be available as it travels through our UK network. My letter has been sitting there since last Monday 12 November and the status has not been updated. I have my ORIGINAL BIRTH CERTIFICATE in the envelope and nothing else!! What takes this long please? I need the original one for my DBS check on next Monday as I have got another job and I'll start there next Monday. If I don't have the original document the check cannot be done therefore I will be rejected from the job. I just got my dream job after many years struggle and now they are failing to deliver a simple letter!!!

Please somebody help me!! I'm begging for help :( :( PLEASE!!!

It will be stuck in customs. Some mail is selected for extra checks at random. There is no way to influence customs in this respect.

It is perfectly possible to get a new UK birth certificate before Monday if you act quickly. Contact the register office which covers the place you were born and arrange for the posting or collection of a replacement. If you were born overseas, speak to your consulate.

I trust you have the other items on the DBS lists? From memory, you need at least three items.

Thank you for your email. I have all the other necessary documents apart from my Birth Certificate.
I'm from Hungary and getting a new BC may take 2+ months by my consulate. Getting it in my country doesn't take that long, but I still won't have it by Monday...
I'm extremely sad and feeling hopeless now..
I've read stories about letters/parcels are being stuck with Customs forever..
Trying to reach them out totally pointless I guess?? :-(:-(

I would start looking at alternatives from the identity lists. IIRC there is some flexibility in the ID (one item from one list, one item from the other list, one item from either list). Speak to your HR people. Also, remember that companies which need to undertake DBS checks are often fishing in a smaller pool than other employers, so they are more likely to wait a little bit for you to start rather than just move on to somebody else.

Thank you for your quick reply. I have emailed HR, but they haven't come back to me yet. I'm afraid this is a bad sign. I just can't believe it's happening now as never happened to me before..
I'm afraid my letter will never leave HWDC.. my original Birth Certificate.. My poor Mom kept it for 30+ years and now it's been lost in the that black hole..seriously this is very appealing and sad... I'm just hoping HR won't tell me that sorry, but,in this case goodbye. I will be left without a job and the hope that finally I got what I have been working so hard in the past many years :-(:'(

Thanks for your help again!

Employers in UK usually accept your passport as proof of identity, as it's issue would have been on the basis of your birth certificate, and in addition it shows your right to employment in the UK.

Edit: Also passports are more difficult to forge than birth certificates.

Thank you for your reply!

I'm hoping so, but HR haven't come back to me since yesterday and as I read DBS check is quite strict, photocopies are not acceptable which I have thought.
I emailed Royal Mail costumer service on Twitter yesterday, no response yet either.
This is very frustrating.!!

I know it probably won't help you but I've had a package of some really expensive leather watch straps handmade from Spain stuck on the EXACT date (12th), in that time I've had parcels land from Belgium and the USA on the 16th and 21st be delivered in that time. I'm hoping it's because the 12th was selected for 'extra checks' but I'm now £500 down, and hoping my friend can claim the cost back if it is lost.

Hoping someone can shine light on how the above is possible?

Because, as we understand it, some bags of mail are selected for additional checks, as mentioned above.

Anyone with any news? My tracking still hasn't moved since arriving in Langley on the 12th, seller has now opened a dispute with Correos (Spain) in the hope it speeds it along, but been told informally over the phone that parcel is probably lost which is frustrating considering value was £200+

Hi All

Just a quick update, my letter hasn't moved since 12 November.. I have contacted Royal Mail on Twitter and they're so so sorry... Yes of course they are!?? And suggesting that I should get in touch with the sender. The sender is my Mom from Hungary and there is NOTHING wrong from that side. Royal Mail said my letter may not be considered lost yet.. ohh really? Who could tell?? It's just a letter, nothing to do with this endless search... I don't know what I could for gettin my letter.. wish I could go to Langley and get it in person. What could happen if I would turn up there? Can't believe that they have lost an Original very important document of my life!!

Also, I posted a letter on 23/11 to Hungary and it hasn't moved since the date I posted it...
