Hello all,
Last weekend, I placed an order for a model railway locomotive with a model shop in California. The locomotive left the USA - through LA (probably Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) - and, according to the USPS Tracking website:
"Your item departed a transfer airport in HEATHROW, LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM on October 2, 2018 at 11:31am. The item is currently in transit to the destination."
That was 3 days ago. Since then, there have no more updates, and the item's USPS Tracking Number, though working on the Parcel Force website, still does not state that the locomotive has entered the UK. The most recent USPS update, quoted above, would suggest that it has however.
Does this mean that my locomotive is currently held-up in UK Customs? Its value is around £200. A similar locomotive which I ordered from another US model shop last month only took a day to be transferred from the USPS to Parcel Force, and I got it within 3-4 days after that.
Should I be worried by the 3 days, and counting, delay in my locomotive being transferred from the USPS to Parcel Force this time? Is it likely to be held-up in UK Customs at Heathrow, or Langley (even though there is no mention of Langley - yet - in either the USPS or Parcel Force Tracking information). If it is, how long could I have to wait for it?
Many thanks for any help!
Chris

Spanish Customs - UK-bound parcel wrongly sent to Spain from the USA
Hello all,
Early last month, I bought a model railway locomotive from a shop in Colorado, USA. It's journey to the UK seemed straightforward until I received a USPS tracking update telling me that it had passed through a transfer airport in Barajas (Madrid), Spain, on September 8th, and was in transit to the destination.
As the loco was bound for the UK, it should have not gone anywhere near Spain. From my investigations it seems to have been mis-sorted by a USPS employee - possibly in San Francisco - and wrongly sent to Spain via Atlanta in the USA.
Even after 10 days, there were no further updates from the USPS, and neither Spanish Customs or the Spanish Postal Service could find any trace of the loco's USPS tracking number in their systems. Eventually, the seller agreed to refund me the full purchase costs, after I took the advice from Parcel Force to seek a refund as they warned me that Spanish Customs were slow, and that there is no guarantee that the loco would be forwarded on by them to the UK.
Has anyone else had any experience of Spanish Customs, and is there still a chance that this locomotive might eventually be forwarded on to the UK by them in the future? Or is it lost for good?
Many thanks for any help!
