I was sent a smalll package containing a watch from Germany on the 26th of March and I had a valid tracking number which told me that it was internationally signed and pending. When I check this number recently it now says that this number is invalid. When I phoned the contact customer service centre, they said there are no details of it on their system but it could have been updated ie its status changed. Royal Mail really need to get their act together otherwise they risk losing xutomers. I believe it is either being delayeed by customs OR it has been lost or stolen. Waiting over 2 months for it is ridiculous. It was posted by DHL in Germany. It is clear that never use a cheap untracked service especially for valuable items, and never post via Langley as they dont seem to know what they are doing. Customers dont mind delays as long as they have certainty as to where their post actually is. I am seriously considering taking the Royal Mail to the small claims courts for my Loss and/or contacting the Police to report it as stolen while in their possession. NOt an acceptable level of service by anyone's standards. Awful - I recommend noone use it. :coolr

What is the tracking number? Was it an iWatch? If it is possibly the lithium battery may have caused problems, can't see from DHL's website if they have any restrictions on lithium batteries. Also I don't think that all DHL stuff entering the UK enters the Royal Mail network

RX614916266DE was the Tracking number and it said "pending" on the Royal Mail Tracking until 2 weeks ago when the message changed to "not valid". It was definitely sent by DHL Germany to the UK as their own tracking pinpoints it arriving at Langley. I made the mistake of using their useless Economy Service with no tracking and they unfortunately used Royal Mail to deliver it in the UK. Customs Duty is definitely due on this item. I have spoken to the local Royal Mail depot and they said as soon as they receive it locally to me, they issue a "Grey" card and I have 14 days to pay duty on it Or it will be returned to the Sender. I did not choose this economy service, it was chosen by the Sender. Obviously I will use something more reliable in future, fully insure the contents, and also have it tracked 24/7 and avoid Langley if this is somehow possible. I am worried that these idiots are stealing stuff that they take a liking to. They have worn it for 3 months now probably - hope they like it. Dumb Ass Service.

Customs duty is not charged on items going from Germany to the UK, but items are checked to see if the contents comply with local customs rules.

You haven't answered Space Phoenix's question above. If the the watch contained a battery then it has almost certainly been seized by German customs as Germany don't allow lithium batteries to be sent by mail.

If the sender was the person who sold the watch to you then you should be pursuing the seller for a refund, not chasing Royal Mail.

You have accused posties twice of stealing your item, may I suggest that on a forum that is mainly for posties, that isn't the best way of getting a response.

Also, not even DHL Germany https://www.dhl.de/de/privatkunden/pake ... 14916266DE" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; or the UK are showing any tracking for it.

The Package was sent by someone from the USA and they used the DHL Small Packet Service. DHL sent this packet from Florida to Germany and then onto Langley in the UK. I have spoken to DHL UK and their system clearly shows when it arrived at Langley and the Royal Mail Tracking number they were given. This number when tracking was attempted using the Royal Mail tracking clearly stated International Signed for pending from DE (Germany). I dont believe there is a lithium battery in the watch. There is Customs Duty due on this item which was a watch. The tracking number is now showing invalid and Royal Mail have said that it could have changed as it went on another system. Unfortunately it is not actively tracked as it is a cheap economy service which was used. DHL do deliver themselves but not in this instance within the UK. It is showing as "disappeared at Langley". Royal Mail only know about it when delivery is first attempted by them and at no stage has it been reported as delivery attempted. I believe someone even perhaps Customs has stolen /seized it for some reason. It has been over 3 months as it arrived at Langley on the 26th March. i WAS ALSO TOLD BY rOYAL mAIL THAT EACH rx NUMBER STAYS ON THE SYSTEM FOR 6 MONTHS SO IT IS ODD THAT IT HAS BEEN REMOVED.

As it's started of in the US first, i wonder if German customs have charged a customs charge instead, if they have, maybe that's caused an issue with customs either in Germany or the UK

This is all the Tracking I have for it from DHL - so I just want this item if it turns up somewhere. It shoiuld never be not trackable and if someone has made off with it then they should be accountable for it. People go to jail for stealing an apple in some places.

Cat got your tongue> I assume that a non response from you is an admission of guilt on your part. I am going to refer this matter to the Police and declare this item either lost or stolen while in your possession. I will also attempt to sue you for the actual cost or replacement cost of this item which was a watch. I am really not happy with your dishonesty or incompetence and non response. Be warned.

You are threatening to sue us so I shall lock this thread and advise members not to post any responses to any questions you may have in the future for their own sakes.

Just to reiterate that there are warnings on EVERY page of RMC that states

We have no affiliation with either Royal Mail or the Communications Workers Union (CWU), except that most of our members work for Royal Mail and/or are members of the CWU.

We can only offer advice and insights, on pain of legal action we will now have to cease where you are concerned. have a nice day.

In fact, that was the second time I warned you that we have no connection with Royal Mail, I can only surmise you ignored posts you did not like.
