If this is not allowed please feel free to delete. Me. To whom it may concern. Hello I am hoping that you can help me. I recently took some letter and parcels to my local Post Office in Cosby Leicestershire. One of the letters I sent has ended up like this when it got to the address that I sent it to. It contained a small pin badge. I know that it was fine when the Post Lady behind the counter place all my letters into a mail bag. I was wondering if there was any way that it could have fallen out while still at the sorting office. I have included a photos as you can see.??
Royal Mail . We're sorry to see this. It looks like this has been expelled from the envelope during the high speed sorting process. It would be unlikely that we'd be able to locate this I'm afraid. We'd suggest logging a claim for the lost item with us and the team will investigate if possible: http://ms.spr.ly/6017rFJpU" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; . ^Nettie
Me. Well that was a waste of time. It says as I have not got proof of postage that I am not eligible to make a claim. Can you not take a description of it and see if it can be found before that it goes in the box that gets sent off to Belfast. What happens to all the property that as you say “ It looks like this has been expelled from the envelope during the high speed sorting process " I am trying to raise money for Cancer Research UK. As they are funding my treatment at the moment. Any help would be truly appreciated.
Royal Mail . Loose objects found within our sorting machines are sent to our National Returns Centre (NRC), however unless a return address is visible it's likely they'll be securely disposed of due to the limited space at the NRC. ^LukeP
Me. So you are saying that no one from your department could send an E-Mail to the right person in another department, asking for them to have a look for this badge. It is not like there will be a lot of badges the same as this one that has gone missing in the last few days ??
Royal Mail. I'm sorry Mick but we're unable to help. ^Kieran. All I am asking is if there is anyone who can look in the right place for me please. ??? Any help at all wound be mostly appreciated.

Entirely possible.

However, Royal Mail is also correct in what they say. All items found expelled from packaging that cannot be identified to an address are ALWAYS sent to Belfast as a matter of policy.

From your viewpoint, there may not be many badges like the one pictured however as most items of Mail pass through many hands and multiple machines it will be difficult to know where to start looking, or which office to alert.

A normal letter or parcel will travel this basic route. Post Office > Local Collection Office > Inward Mail Centre >Outward mail Centre> Local delivery office.

Also with 50 odd Mail Centres and approximately 1500 Delivery Offices, you can start to see the scale of the problem.
