I used a London foreign currency dealer to get $1,386 for a friend who is going on holiday. I them put it into a large box to disguise it and posted it from Southwark Park Road post office by Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed 1pm on 20 February. It has still not arrived 1 week later and the tracking data shows that it was "SENT AT POST OFFICE" with no further updates.
Has this been stolen by a RM employee? How could they know there was cash inside? Any help appreciated!

$1,386 cash stolen?
If it hasn't been scanned into a Mail Centre, which is what should have been the next scan, then its unlikely to have been stolen by a postie, unless they are incredibly stupid as there will be only 1 suspect.
Contact a real Royal Mail site eg @royalmail on twitter, or call them directly and an investigation should start. Hopefully, the insurance levels you got with the "Special Delivery" will cover your loss.

$1,386 cash stolen?
Thank you TrueBlueTerrier. Frustration is that when they asked what was in the parcel, I said a phone as thought it would be asking for trouble to say a load of cash so am only insured up to £500 for a £1,000 loss. Will try Twitter now but any other suggestions appreciated.

Hopefully your item will reach its destination but be prepared that you will probably be required to provide the evidence below if/when you make a claim:Nick Johnson wrote:Thank you TrueBlueTerrier. The claim for the 'phone' value will require evidence as detailed in RM T&C's for a claim:
6. For claims relating to Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed by 1pm®, Royal Mail will require evidence of the level of compensation purchased shown on the Horizon receipt, product documentation or posting cheque book provided for business collection customers.
7. Evidence of the actual loss must be provided to enable Royal Mail to determine the value of the contents of a packet. Such evidence might be original receipts, bank or credit card statements, details of age, paypal record, invoices, manufacturing costs, auctioneers valuation, and repair costs in the case of damage claims. This list is not exhaustive and is for illustrative purposes only.
