Recorded deliveries over Xmas to closed businesses
I am currently waiting to complete on the purchase of a new house and awaiting a document sent recorded delivery from the people i'm buying it off to be sent to the solicitor. It was meant to have arrived on friday, but didn't. The solicitors are now closed til Jan 2nd - What will happen to this mail? Thanks in advance for any advice.

Recorded deliveries over Xmas to closed businesses
If they have applied for a keepsafe then it will "kept safe" hence the name and delivered on the date they specify.
If they haven't, then officially it should be returned to sender, but in most cases the postie knows they are closed and will unofficially hold the mail for them till they do open again.
If the item is recorded and its a keepsafe it should be scanned as such when it arrives at the posties frame, and then scanned on delivery. However, if this doesn't happen, but the item is going to be returned then a different scan will happen which will indicate its being returned.

You don't need keep safe between xmas and new year so it should be ok.
