Why do postmen get transfered to another area?

Post by tommeasor »

We had the same postman for a couple of years and I received everything I bought from the internet - usually two items a week. Then he moved to another area and different postman delivered our post, that's when I stopped getting parcels I've purchased from the internet - four items in total in the last three months costing me a lot of money. I just want my old postman back so I can start ordering stuff from the internet again as it's a waste of time right now as I don't get them. And I've contacted the complains department which was a waste of time.

if theyve been a regular postie for a number of years in your area, its likely that they themselves decided to change delivery for a variety of reasons. Deliveries are far from equal so maybe theyve changed to an easier one, its hard to know. Contacting complaints isnt a waste of time, especially if you can contact local office. These are logged and dealt with, even if it doesnt get your package back it builds up the fact that an individual postie is somehow not getting stuff delivered properly. Id hazard a guess theyve put someone who leaves packages on doorsteps and theyre getting stolen, thats the most common reason for packages going completely missing yet some posties still do it....

Why do postmen get transfered to another area?

Many reasons.

But ultimately only the managers in concert with Union agreements can move posties. Sometimes the postie can volunteer to change deliveries in other cases everyone moves and someone else gets the chance to select his duty before he does.

Isn't the point in question why are parcels going missing?

Firstly, have you confirmed with sender(s) that they were despatched via Royal Mail?

If so do you have any numbers for tracked, signed for or special delivery items?

If they were sent by RM but not by tracked, signed for or SD the trail will go cold as far as are concerned and you
should claim for compensation from the sender who creates the 'contract' with Royal Mail to get the
stuff to you.
