Item with 2 tracking numbers

Post by Leggsy »

Hi All,

I have just returned from the Delivery office unable to resolve a problem regarding a missing item. They suggest I contact Customer Services which I will do tomorrow, but I was wondering if anyone understands how this could have happened?

Last week - 02/11/2017 - I received a something for you card - missed delivery - With Tracking Number 1 attached.

I arranged for that item to be redelivered today.

I received a parcel today - 08/11/2017 - with a tracking Number (Number 2) and ALSO tracking Number 1 attached.

The parcel I received today, was not the redelivery, it hadn't even been ordered by the 02-11-2017, but was simply another item (tracked on Number 2).

So according to the tracking website and the Delivery office, both items were delivered... and have been "signed for", but only one of the items has been physically delivered...

Any idea why the tracking sticker from my original missing item would be attached to my item delivered today?

Any help welcomed.

Thanks.

Item with 2 tracking numbers

Tracking numbers and the labels are usually assigned and applied by the sender. Royal Mail has no reason to move tracking numbers from one item to another, in fact, its usually physically impossible unless the address label itself is damaged in some way.

Are both tracking numbers on their own labels and still physically attached to the item with no sign of "tampering" or damage.

Having said that whilst it is rare for an item to have 2 tracking numbers I have seen it at least once.
