BARCODES ON HOME-PRINTED POSTAGE LABELS.

Post by Cheekydud »

I wonder if anyone can advise please (apologies if this is in the wrong place). I printed my own postage label at home and the label came out very small, the barcode was only 1.5cm x 1.5cm. Would a barcode this size be readable by a scanner? Is there a minimum size for a barcode? TIA for any reply. :nervous

Not a hope in hell!

You should be able to make it bigger somehow - I don't use it no not sure how but we get them come through a decent size enough to be sure it is possible

Thanks for reply, swindonandy. I asked at the PO counter when I took some post earlier and the clerk said it would be fine. Will it still get to its destination (can it be manually dealt with) or will it be returned to sender, do you know?

It will make it if the address is clear, it just won't show on track and trace.

I've seen larger ones that won't scan due to the poor print quality.
I asked at the PO counter when I took some post earlier and the clerk said it would be fine.
Some of these people fold 3d bar codes over the edge of the packet, so I wouldn't expect them to know everything.

Thanks for the info Gaz. In my case my 'local' delivery office is far from local, and it's not practical for me to travel to it. Hope the info helps someone else though.

I know this is not in the right place but I can't find a 'New Topic' button to post a new thread, so here goes.....

I've been asked to post a very small parcel which is small enough to go through a postbox slot. It has a 'Postage on Account' label on it. Am I okay to just drop it in an ordinary postbox, or do I need to hand it into a post office?

Answered in Post Office section - but yes you should be ok to just drop it in a Post Box but note the last collection time.

The New Topic button is available in the first page of each section of the Board, eg Customers, News, Competitors news etc.
