Hi,
A headphone I'm receiving in the US has been stuck in heathrow dc since 11/23. I was wondering whats going on and if it usually takes this long to leave the UK. Does customs check the package before leaving the UK? or could it just be an overload of packages due to the holiday season. Thanks for the help.

There could be a problem if the headphones are wireless, but not with wired ones. Which did you send?

It's a wired one. No batteries. Does it normally take this long to leave heathrow?

No, that is a long time for outbound mail. However, I may have misunderstood the problem. Could you please copy and paste the last tracking entry into this thread?

It's possible that they've arrived in the US but might be stuck in a backlog in US customs

23/11/16 01:00 ARRIVED (MDN) AT HEATHROW WORLDWIDE DC
22/11/16 20:16 ON ITS WAY TOHEATHROW WORLDWIDE DC CROYDON MAIL CENTRE
22/11/16 20:03 ITEM COLLECTED CROYDON MAIL CENTRE
22/11/16 11:38 SENT AT POST OFFICE
USPS still says origin post is preparing shipment. Does royal mail tracking post when it leaves heathrow? and does customs hold the package before being scanned after arriving in the US?

Yes, RM do say when they put it on the plane. And in most countries you do not see another tracking point until it leaves customs.
The item stopped moving at the point where items are scanned for dangerous goods, but you shouldn't have a problem with wired headphones. One possibility is that items are now being randomly selected for extra checks. Another is that it has gone on the plane but has been affected by the problem with RM's tracking (see other threads on here).
