Hello

I've recently ordered a satnav from canada for my husband, on canada post it says its been delivered.. I searched the tracking in royal mail our of curiosity see if anything would come up and it says

was delivered in MANCHESTER MAIL CENTRE on 05/05/16.

05/05/16 09:31 DELIVERED05/05/16 MANCHESTER MAIL CENTRE

Do you think I will receive it today as I didn't get it yesterday and it was a delivery scan problem?

I would hope it will get delivered today but do you have the tracking number so we can see previous/subsequent entries.

You could also tweet @RoyalMail and PM the tracking number - they have access to a different tracking system and may have more details.

without any other info I would say 50/50.

But as suggest tweet @royalmail now as they have more access to detailed info they may be able to confirm if its out for delivery or not.

Thats a possibility although fairly slim.

Are you in the Manchester Area or anywhere near the Centre, or is work.

Have to say there are other possibilities the sender despite their assurances may have put the wrong address on, or they may have given you an incorrect tracking number hopefully they are honest because there are other possibilities as well, of course.

Me personally, in your situation and with the information you have given us, I would contact the sender and advise them of the situation. Ideally, they'll either refund you or send a replacement, or perhaps even be able to explain whats happened.

I called them again and they said it looks like its a miss scan, as items go from Manchester to my local deep and then to me, and international items don't get scanned all the time, so she said it might be with me today or a few days she thinks, which gives me bit more confidence anyway

depending on the price of the sat nav you may actually have incurred a customs charge, so instead of the item arriving you may receive a grey customs charge notice instead, in which case you would need to go to pay that before either collecting the item from local delivery office or it being delivered

Yes, the satnav is almost certainly worth more than 18 pounds so there will be a customs charge. If there is a charge to pay, doesn't the item get "delivered" in the first instance to a sort of PO Box in the delivery office?

Those grey cards do seem to go missing a lot, I suspect that customers don't recognise the significance of them...

There 100% won't be a custom fee as I've ordered from the same company before and they always pay correct postage. and to be exact I got the same sat nav few months back. I tweeted royal mail and this was there reply

'OK, the Manchester Mail Centre does provide mail for our offices in the SK postcode area but it's unlikely they'd deliver directly so...

'...I suspect it was actually delivery to your local office & now they will deliver to you.'

So hopefully it will come monday :)

customs charge had nothing to do with the company paying the correct postage, anything like this valued over £18 is liable for vat to be charged and that is done here in the UK, not by the company in Canada, just because a previous item was not charged does not mean everyone will not, lots slip through without being charged
