Hi -- I sent a gift to a friend of mine in the UK with tracking # CJ154402328US -- mailed via USPS and then looks like it was in the process of being handed over to Parcelforce. Per the USPS website, it arrived and departed from Heathrow on March 6 (with no updates since); per PF, it was "Despatched to the UK" on March 5 from Miami with no further updates.
I and my friend have called our respective agencies, and USPS has started an international inquiry, which I'm told can take up to 35 working days (we're now about 3 weeks into it). Has anyone had any experience with this type of situation? Have you ever had a parcel go missing like this and then actually show up intact (to either recipient or sender -- I'd be fine if they'd return it to me)?

Any advice? Parcel from US went missing
It's probably stuck in customs, delays are upto a month or so at the moment unfortunately,
Also depending on the value of the item tax may be payable so it may be being held by parcel force they normally send a letter to the recipient detailing how much tax and charges are due to be paid, (even if a gift depending on its value tax may still be due to be paid)

That's where I get confused. USPS tracking shows it as arriving in heathrow but parcelforce doesn't. PF says that they may have just scanned the container that it was supposed to be in at Heathrow and that they didn't scan this individual parcel. So I'm not sure if it ever left Miami or if it's with customs.
