Domestic post via Heathrow DC?
Hello,
I was hoping one of you knowledgable guys would know if it is normal that a parcel I sent within the UK to be delivered domestically (so remaining in the UK) would supposedly go via Heathrow Worldwide DC?
This seems odd to me since the parcel is not international; to be delivered to London from Cambridge, the item was sent via First Class Signed For, and was last seen "arriving" at Heathrow 5 days ago according to track and trace.
Thanks in advance.

It may have been misrouted and if so it will be on its way to the intended recipient. The thing is with 1st Class sign for is that it is only scanned on delivery, by all rights it shouldn't have been scanned at Heathrow. Give it a few more days.
If you want to post the tracking number on here if there are any further questions, the only identifying detail it will give is the Post Office it was sent from we won't know your real address or the one it's going to.

I'm not asking like, I am asking specifically what is in this parcel? as depending on the exact contents that could explain why it went to heathrow

ZX, perhaps you could explain to us what procedure would direct an item to HWDC dependant on the contents because form inside the system I do not see a process to tell what is inside the item or for a PO to notify an item "should be sent to HWDC because of the contents"zx135 wrote:I'm not asking like, I am asking specifically what is in this parcel? as depending on the exact contents that could explain why it went to heathrow
A miss-sort to HWDC of a barcoded item would likely result in a scan there due to the high levels of automation at HWDC. This would then be corrected via normal means.
The contents are irrelevant.

The contents are not irrelevant, if it's a no fly or item prohibited in the post it may have been sent to heathrow whilst on its way to Belfastswindonandy wrote:ZX, perhaps you could explain to us what procedure would direct an item to HWDC dependant on the contents because form inside the system I do not see a process to tell what is inside the item or for a PO to notify an item "should be sent to HWDC because of the contents"zx135 wrote:I'm not asking like, I am asking specifically what is in this parcel? as depending on the exact contents that could explain why it went to heathrow

Its working for me, and on the PF one as well, I get the same status as "deneboulton" posted. The item is Recorded as well, going by the number, so there won't be any more scans till delivery is attempted.
My advice to the sender is to contact Royal Mail direct or by Web Form, it will at least register a complaint.
