b]Operational general synopsis[/b]
The recent flooding in parts of northern England is continuing to affect deliveries in a small number of areas. It was also a very busy night for the Royal Mail network. We’ll update our Service Update web pages throughout the day as the situation in areas affected by the floods develops.
Deliveries and collections
Carlisle
We’ll be out delivering mail to the vast majority of addresses in Carlisle today, where access is possible and where it’s safe to do so.
While flooding is hampering some deliveries due to road closures, a range of contingency measures have been put in place to ensure deliveries reach people as quickly as practicable. To help our customers served by the Carlisle Delivery Office, we’re holding mail for affected customers and those waiting for deliveries of important letters or parcels can pick up their mail (with proof of identity) from Carlisle Delivery Office, Junction Street, Carlisle, CA1 1AA at their convenience.
Customers should bring a form of identification (bank card, driving licence) with them to pick up mail. A local collect service can also be set up by customers should they require it while they are in the office. A free Redirection service is also available for victims of the Carlisle flooding who have had to move out of their homes temporarily and therefore wish to have their mail delivered to an alternative address. Further details will be added to our North of England service update page.
Deliveries in a number of other parts of northern England continue to be affected in the aftermath of the flooding. Services from the Prudhoe (NE17, 41, 42 & 43 postcode areas) and Hexham (NE44-48) delivery offices are returning to normal and both Enquiry Offices are open for customers to collect items for which we've left a 'Something for you' card.
We’ll be out delivering and collecting mail in all other affected areas, where access is possible and it’s safe for our people to do so. Further updates on the situation in these areas will be added to our Service Update web pages throughout the day.

I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
