How about CLOSING the gate

Post by Bazzer289 »

Apart from a few hiccups I have had brilliant postal staff who are very helpful and close the gate after they have opened it to post material. Some have even been kind enough to close it even when the leafletters have deposited their items.
A new post person started on Saturday 14NOV15 . He opened the gate, one that can be closed or opened, with the little finger, He posted the mail turned around and walked through the gate without even bothering to even try to close it.

I spoke to someone in the Portslade sorting office this morning to ensure a note was put on my slot to close the gate. This afternoon the same chap opened the gate and did exactly the same again, disgusting. I keep my gate closed to stop the rubbish being blown in from the very busy main road outside. Perhaps the individual concerned would come and clear my garden of the rubbish he let in.

I would love to be able to get outside and resolve this problem but being an amputee it is not always convenient to chase around after individuals like this. It could be this :Boo hoo! But seriously :no no

i was trained to exit the premises the same way i entered it and to leave it as i find it, i don't suppose training has changed that much.
Confused... You won't be, after the next episode of. SOAP

On my training, 8 weeks ago, told "...leave the gate as you found it..."

Seems reasonable and right thing to do.

I had a new lad out with me. He had No training at all. Sadly the last thing on his mind was whether a gate was open or closed. He had no intention of closing any gate. That was nothing compared to other things I saw. He was deliberately dropping all elastic bands, and walking across EVERYTHING, grass, soil, flowers. After picking myself up, I had words with him, it just hadn't occurred to him to close a gate after him. DIM doesn't come close. Sadly, he is still a postman. Manager is more concerned with getting him to do all redirections every day, rather than some of them sometimes.
