Sent a parcel over to Portugal

Post by mojo1990 »

Hi, everyone ☺

I sent a parcel using International Tracked & Signed delivery on the 28/8/15. The parcel contains a garment sent back for refunds to its original destination which is Portugal. RN122181687GB

I managed to find the detailed RM tracking link status:

29/08/15 AM ON ITS WAY TOGLS PORTUGAL PORTUGAL
29/08/15 00:43 ARRIVEDUNKNOWN BAG - MISSING DUN HEATHROW WORLDWIDE DC
28/08/15 20:25 ON ITS WAY TOHEATHROW WORLDWIDE DC SOUTH MIDLANDS MAIL CENTR
28/08/15 19:57 ITEM COLLECTED SOUTH MIDLANDS MAIL CENTR
28/08/15 15:44 SENT AT POST OFFICE 189 Evington Roa LE2 1QN

So it seems RMG had sent my parcel to GLS. I checked the parcel status using the GLS tracking service on their website:

02/09/2015 07:06 Inbound to GLS location Germany

I am really concerned about this status update. Why is it being sent to Germany and not Portugal? How many more days will it take for GLS to deliver to its destination? Fashion Stores normally allow upto 10 working days for refunds, but I am not confident the garment will arrive on time.

Thank you for taking the time to read.

Germany is where GLS's central sorting hub is

Thank you for the clarification, but I am still confused as to why the lady at the post office told me it would take 3-5 working days. Clearly from the looks of it, the delivery will take a substantially longer time to reach its desired destination, which is in Portugal. I would have suggested Air mail if I knew it would come to this.

The clerk at the Post Office should have told you that the delivery aim for this service is 3-5 days and offered you a service with a guaranteed delivery time as well (at a cost of at least £30).

Some of us know that the official Royal Mail delivery aims are nonsense but PO clerks still have to quote the official ones.

Thank you for the response.

I've been checking the status of my parcel, and for the last three days or so, nothing seems to have changed. This is worrying

Okay I am really concerned now as to the whereabouts of my parcel. For the past 6 days straight, the status on my GLS tracking has remained the same!! Can someone please help? Is there a way for Royal Mail to contact the hub or cargo centre and find out what's taking so long??

The garment is worth over £350 and I had no idea this shipment would take so long in Europe!!

All you can really do is talk to Royal Mail direct:
