Parcel in Heathrow
Hello!
First, i would like to thank the experienced members on here in advance for their much appreciated help.
I am the recipient in Germany of the express tracked and signed sending no. RS271973668GB.
The parcel is sitting in London Heathrow since 05/08 and not moving forward. The status official status says
"Your item, posted on 04/08/15 with reference RS271973668GB has been received at our international mail centre and is being made ready for despatch overseas."
The detailed status is "arrivedunknown bag - missing dun". I already know that I don't have to worry about that status, normally.
As the content of the parcel is very important for me, I would like to know if this procedure is normal (and i think it's not). I am wondering, because the parcel is not moving forward since over 64 hours. And i already found some topics on here that complain over the exact same situation.
Again, thank you very much for your input.
All the best

Re: Parcel in Heathrow
Once the parcel has cleared German customs it should appear on https://gls-group.eu/EU/en/parcel-tracking" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; GLS will be the company delivering the parcel.

Re: Parcel in Heathrow
That is what i knew already as i got several parcels from RM already. My sorrow is that something goes wrong as it is not moving since nearly 3 days. Is that normal tolerance?
Thanks so much! :)

Re: Parcel in Heathrow
This is probably the cause of the delay, Dutsche Post might have asked other countries to hold off sending items to them until they've cleared any backlog

from: http://www.royalmail.com/service-update/international" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Germany
Start date: 6 August 2015
End date: 6 August 2015
Dutsche Post have informed us that Frankfurt International Hub has been evacuated due to a bomb alert. Access to the International Hub is blocked and no vehicles can enter or leave. This will delay the processing of inbound and outbound mail.
It is expected that the disruption will not last for too long. An update will be issued when further information is available.
Update: 6 August 2015 14:50hrs
Dutsche Post have informed us that Frankfurt hub is now back to normal following the earlier evacuation due to a bomb alert.

Re: Parcel in Heathrow
I have read about that, yes. But the parcel is sitting there since 04/08 already and still no progress. The bomb alert was 2 days ago.
What do you think? Is there a way for them to actually search for the parcel? Because i received a copy paste mail so far that wasn't helpful at all.
Thank you! :)

Re: Parcel in Heathrow
What is happening there??
All the people that have this problem tell the exact same story. I'm really getting nervous...
Can somebody provide more information, what happens behind the scenes there?
Thanks a lot!

Re: Parcel in Heathrow
We have had a lot of requests on here for someone to talk about the goings on at customs, but I don't think there ever has been. Given that they have nothing to do with Royal Mail, I'm not sure why they would come on here in the first place, plus anything they did say might risk contravention of the Official Secrets Act, potentially leading to sacking & prosecution.

Re: Parcel in Heathrow
As this is a shipping within EU, shouldn't there be NO customs actions? Also the parcel is leaving UK, not coming in.
I don't see the point.
So the answer is, the parcel is sitting in the customs atm, is that correct?

Re: Parcel in Heathrow
No problem. :)
But my question stays the same: As the parcel is shipped within EU, there shouldn't be customs in UK, right?
So what may be a understandable explanation that my parcel is not moving forward?
Thank you so much! :)

Re: Parcel in Heathrow
There is always VAT to be charged, it doesn't matter that it's within the EU, if it falls into the duty due bracket then you'll be charged and yes, they do check some of them to be sure (although with the reduction of staff it's a lot more rare that it will be checked).

I feel ya bro ... Mine allegedly stuck there since 22/07/2015 ... I wrote a letter to a RM custom service couple a days ago and here's their response:Hussein wrote:Hello Parcel in Heathrow staff,

I am not blaming anyone , mb they told me that to keep me calm (not that I was getting angry anyways) or mb it is true ... In my case the problem is that even if my parcel did left UK on 22/07/2015Our track and trace is currently experiencing issues with transferring despatch information from Heathrow, and so items are being despatched but are not tracked as such. I can confirm your item was despatched on the 22nd July 2015.
I still can't trace it within my country...mb it stuck in custom or something i dunno.. the worst part is that i paid for signed mail more than for the item i bought itself, and now I have absolutely no idea where it is...

Re: Parcel in Heathrow
How often can the label of the shipping bag come away? I see that happening very often and just can't believe that this is true.
Also as it "doesn't impact our items" this cannot be the reason for our parcels to disappear. Maybe that is a code for RM that the parcels
are indeed checked by the customs...
