Hi all
I have no idea where I should put this so moderators/admin I apologise if this needs to be moved :)
I ordered a parcel online a few days ago and it was despatched using Royal Mail 24HR tracked now 3 days late I have not received it, so worrying (as you do) I decided to check my delivery address on my confirmation email I noticed the first line of my address was wrong here is how it should look for example:-
12 fake house
fake street
fake county
F12 34Z
Here is how it is on my confirmation and presume it is on my parcel:-
12 fake street
fake street
fake county
F12 34Z
Now my question is what happens now? Will the sorting office try and figure out what mistake I have done as my post code is correct and the first line of my address is wrong and try and send it out anyway albeit delayed or will they send it back to the sender?
Thanks in advance :)

to be honest its 50/50
do you have an unusual surname if so that may help if the posties recognises it.
does no 12 Fake Street exist, and if there are a lot of no 12 other fake houses, tenements on the same street that won't.
In any case they should still be scanning it can you visit the tracking site http://www.royalmail.com/trackdetails" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and post the details on here we MAY be able to decipher what's happening.

Sorry to be so vague but if you were to put my address as it is on the parcel into Google the streetview comes up outside my block of flats, track and trace comes up as the reference is not recognized. I am probably just being paranoidTrueBlueTerrier wrote:to be honest its 50/50

If its not recognised on track and trace then it hasn't eneterd RM system - you may be able to contact the sender and amend the address.

Re: Incomplete first line of address... Help!.
According to the RM site when a parcel has an incomplete address and can not be sorted automatically it will be sorted manually by hand and obviously this will delay things, also it was dispatched a few days ago so I doubt the sender could be able to amend the address. Would it be possible to call my local sorting office to see if I could collect it with my reference number and ID? Just re iterate my post code is correct if that makes any difference

If its tracked 24 then its scanned throughout its journey in RM, even if the address is wrong, which why I think its not in the system yet.

You could post the tracking number, and maybe one of the good folks here could trace it for you.
No need to feel paranoid, we can't trace your address from the tracking number.

Re: Incomplete first line of address... Help!.
Hmm. No record of it in the RM system. It's possible that it's coincidentally missed every scan on it's journey but that would be massively unlikely. It seems most likely to me that it has not been handed to RM yet, but the sender has marked it as despatched already.
Remembering from my previous experience in warehouse work many years ago, it could just mean that they've moved it from one corner of their building to another and it will get its first scan when it is collected by RM. This is just a guess of course, I'd be getting in touch with the sender by now if you've paid for a next day service, and letting them do the chasing up of whoever is responsible.
I would imagine that they would take one look at the tracking info and then immediately despatch another to you, asking you to 'return to sender' the first one if it turns up. Maybe the barcode was unscannable? Who knows.

Don't think that it's either Special Delivery or Tracked 24 as I don't think any barcodes for them start with KX it's most likely 1st class recorded

But it would still show an accepted scan either at a PO or a Distribution Hub.

Recordeds aren't scanned in MCs at all and probably not in RDCs either. If the seller has a collection then the first scan will be when delivery is attemptedTrueBlueTerrier wrote:SpacePhoenix wrote:Don't think that it's either Special Delivery or Tracked 24 as I don't think any barcodes for them start with KX it's most likely 1st class recorded
