I bought an item online and when it didn't arrive, I contacted the seller. He emailed me proof of postage and I asked him to make a claim. The item has now been returned to him. The packaging is ripped, there are stickers on it from Royal mail and they allege that a card was left and I failed to collect the parcel. The seller emailed me photos. No card was left and Royal Mail refuse to refund the seller the postage costs as they insist a card was left. I order online all the time and I have never not collected a parcel.
There are a further two items that have been sent to me first class over a week ago which haven't arrived. I have been emailed proof of postage for one of them. All items are from different places.
I contacted Royal Mail by phone who tell me that they will check with the sorting office if anything is currently held for me but given that a week has passed it is unlikely. I told them that I am getting small packages which fit in the letter box but large packages I am not getting and asked them also to look into whether I have a new post person as this has never occurred until recently and I have lived here for 10 years.
What can I do in this situation where they claim to have left card but have not? I am having to pay postage twice with no guarantee that I will get items the second time round. I am beyond furious because all the missing items are things I have ordered for my wedding which is now next week so I have been left high and dry and if I get the items at all after the wedding, they will be of no use to me!

Re: No card left, parcel returned.
I buy quite a lot of stuff online too, and haven't had any problem with delivery of stuff that can be put through letterbox.
But last year a larger packet was returned to seller with sticker stating that card had been left and item had not been collected. No card had been left, if it had I would have collected the packet. I had to pay for the item to be reposted.
I showed my regular postie the packaging with sticker still attached and he said that the attempted delivery had been on his day off and that the replacement postie had run out off 'collect cards' and taken the item back to DO. I don't know whether this was true, but I told him I wouldn't be making a complaint this time as I used to work for Royal Mail, but couldn't afford to keep paying additional posting costs and would make a complaint if it happened again, and that he should tell the 'replacement postie' that. It hasn't happened since.
It might be that your regular postie is/was on holiday, it is that time of year.
Perhaps you should have a word with your regular postie, if you can.
And if you have not received items for your wedding next week which should have arrived it is probably worth going to your local Delivery Office, ask to see the manager and explain the situation to him and ask him to check if there are any packets being held for you.
