Currently Processing Through Our Network

Post by mdj1 »

So I sent my £2000 watch to be services on Monday by SD with £2500 cover.

It's still showing as Processing Through The Network.

This to me means RM have lost it. It's not even showing as being scanned when picked up from the local post office or at the local sorting office.

I will be absolutely livid if RM have lost this. It has a lot of sentimental value let alone the hastle of having to claim and replace it.

THats strange that code is not one you usually see for Special Delivery. Its a status that is usually a result of being scanned by the Post Office (now a separate company)

Can you try this page and the copy and paste all of the result in this thread it might help - (don't paste the tracking number though)

Remember though that advice on this site is unofficial and informal.

09/07/14 06:41 IN ADDRESSEE PO BOX MANCHESTER MAIL CENTRE
08/07/14 02:21 RECEIVED ATMANCHESTER MAIL CENTRE MANCHESTER MAIL CENTRE
07/07/14 18:21 DESPATCHABLE TOMANCHESTER MAIL CENTRE CHELMSFORD MAIL CENTRE
07/07/14 17:12 COLLECTED CHELMSFORD MAIL CENTRE
07/07/14 16:00 ACCEPTED AT POL 99 Sanford Road CM2 6DF

Well that gives me a bit more confidence that it's not lost at least. But why has a special delivery item sat at Manchester for over 24 hours.

How can RM state it's a guranteed service when they can't guarantee it?

The recipient has a PO Box, it has been delivered to the PO Box. The fact they haven't collected it yet is down to them, they pay us to have all their mail held there for their convenience. We have delivered it to the correct place, now it is up to them to actually come out and get the item.

Of course it got to the box a day later than it should have so you can claim for compensation of the cost of postage for not getting there before 1pm on the 8th but it is by no means lost.

The delivery address isn't a POBox.

Its a street address

Its possible that a surcharge has been raised - you may need to confirm that you paid the right price. You may also need to contact the receiver to see if they have received a grey surcharge card and if they are willing to accept the charge. If not you may be able to pay it online if they are willing to give you the details on the card. https://www.royalmail.com/personal/rece ... /pay-a-fee" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

In the worst case if they refuse it, or don't respond to the card, item should be returned to you after 18 days if there is a return address.

Just a word of warning if this is all down to the wrong price being paid, then the receiver may not YET have received a surcharge card so you'll need to keep that in mind if you d contact them.

There shouldn't be a surcharge.

I took it to the post office. Told them how I wanted it sent and the insurance and they told me how much to pay.

If they told me wrong then that's not my fault.

I was only offering a suggestion. It may not be the case, we are only offering unofficial insight and advice.

In that vein I must also say that as the Post Office and Royal Mail are now two separate companies, its also not Royal Mails fault. But apportioning blame doesn't help. Have you contacted the receiver to see if they can help in any way. Or have you been to the original PO to get their advice.

Okay an insight

2 Possibilities

TAG Heuer because they get a lot of mail its either taken by the Mail Centre direct to them or they collect it themselves direct from the Mail Centre - In either case they may use a PoBox to simplify the process.

In fact the public can have these kinds of boxes. They can have a physical business address that goes to a PO Box Number, a PO Box Number that goes to a physical address and in both cases they can elect for collection or delivery.

TAG Heuer get a large amount of mail each night. It is allocated on the night shift to a PO Box and re-scanned on a PDA prior to delivery by the Mail Centre. Funny thing is the track and trace results should show more scans after the received at Manchester scan.
