Help please! USPS/RM says item delivered but it wasn't.

Hi there, I was wondering if anyone could help me. I bought an item off of ebay and the seller put a tracking number on there as it was being sent from America. I checked via ebay and it says the item has been delivered but it hasn't. Also on Royal Mail's site it says delivered then says 'thanks for using local collect'. Does this mean the item has been taken to a sorting office or something?

I am not sure really what to do. Our postman is awful, he leaves 'signed for' items outside the front door without asing us to sign (I am not sure if he forges signatures or what) and hardly ever bothers knocking for parcels sometimes I go to let the cat in and there are parcels on the doorstep in the rain. If someone could give me advice that would be great.

I would contact customer service. Your post man needs a good talking to by his manager as by the sounds of it he is not doing his job as he should and breaking all the rules. The only way to improve things is if people like this get stopped. They should also be able to tell you the status of your packet and if/where it has been collected from.

I probably seem really dim but how do I contact Royal Mail's customer services please? Thanks for the advice.

If you give them a cal on 03457 740 740 and tell them all the problems you are having.

Royal Mail think it is the wrong tracking number as the parcel was delivered to Basingstoke and I live in Ipswich so not even close. I have emailed the seller and am awaiting a response. Thanks for you help buddy.

Just a heads up all the USPS stuff with tracking numbers do not need a signature when they are scanned by the postie, so if he starts doing his job correctly he is still okay to put USPS ones through the letterbox - if he can safely do so.
