Royal Mail no longer responsible for just about anything!!
I sent a parcel with £38 worth of CDs in November last year, which went missing but they only paid out a £3.60 book of stamps because they said i didn't have the right proof of posting - yet the one i supplied (a receipt as it turns out) was the one i asked for from their own postmaster (at least I thought it was their own! Read on…) .
They asked me to print off every CD (contained in the parcel ) from internet sites in order to ‘prove the value’ (which I did, thinking they would then grant me compensation) .
They then reverted back to the “invalid proof of posting” excuse , so i went through 4 stages of complaint , and finally , an “independent” adjudicator called POSTRS found in their favour because - get this - the Post Office is NOT part of the Royal Mail !! Yes , that’s right - any mistake - in fact presumably anything at all – that happens within a branch of the Post Office gives carte blanche to Royal Mail to weasel out of paying compensation!
This is the way they treat a customer who spends 1,000’s of pounds a year with them. It is frightening to think a once great institution has been privatised and driven into the ground like this, with the customer service of a local loan shark or dodgy insurance company. God help the employees if this is the way they treat their customers

Royal Mail are no longer the only company doing parcels so maybe you could take your business elsewhere.

Trev HAGL does indeed spend a f***ing fortune on postage. Sorry that you seem to have been dumped on Trev. Try taking it up with the CEO, if for no other reason than to piss her off. Or you could try customer services twitter https://twitter.com/RoyalMail" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I'm sure they'd love having their shitty laundry aired in public.
Best,
Sidley

Within certain sections of the population mail fraud seems to be almost a full-time occupation, so do you really think RM is going to pay out if the documentation isn't adequate?
Blame shady Ebay buyers and sellers for that one, rather than privatisation.

There is also an issue of personal responsibility.
You took a gamble/advice and sent £38 worth of stuff by a service that only compensates a maximum of £20 or 6 x 1st class stamps with basic evidence (which it appears what you provided). Nothing wrong in that at all, but you have to make sure you are aware of all the issues that affect that decision.
Even Royal Mail can't claim 100% delivery of all items and even though its probably nearer 99.9% it still means there is a risk (as there is in anything anyone does) and I would always suggest "Hoping for the best" is never as good as "Planning for the worst"
The table of compensation/service can be found here http://www.royalmail.com/personal/help- ... loss-items" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; which incidentally came in before privatisation

yes, compensation limit that was only reduced last year , but yes it is up to the buyer if he pays £1.10 extra to be covered for the same level he would be last year.
god bless privatisation eh?
my issue is that Royal Mail are now trying anything to get out of paying even the £20 compensation, including not even being responsible for those who take their customers money!
