help !parcel sent to usa lost,been nearly a month

i send a very expensive item to america on 4 nov by international signed for airmail small parcels, tracking has never been updated and i keep getting 'item is being processed through our system' ..contacted customer services, they have no idea where it is they have said to wait and keep trying to track it they have said however.its not even left the country...sooo..trying a bit of investigating ..tried out local post office, its not there, tried the local sorting office, its not there, they told us they dont us that parcels dont go there first but straight to the main office in Cardiff ..been phoning them but arent answering..i hate to think of it as missing as it was securely wrapped with my return address on the back.but i am now giving up hope and i am absoloutly gutted.. any advice at all would be appreciated..thanks Bev..UPDATE ..seems i got fobbed off by the postie in our local sorting office..the lovely ladies at our post office say.they they do indeed accept all parcels that go from the post office ..and even have a signiature of the postie that took it there, does'nt instill much confidence in the sysem does it

It says its being progressed through our network for delivery. Customer services says that nothing is showing on their system and its not been scanned at all. And they have no idea where it is.

Unfortunately, a lot of the Public misidentify Delivery Offices as "Sorting Office"s. When in fact Sorting Offices in Royal Mail are usually the Mail Centres. So in essence both sides are right. However, there is no official designation of "Sorting Office" within Royal Mail.

Update.after the call to the sorting office And considering they dont handle parcels that come from our local po. My parcel has miraculously started tracking after nearly a month missing. Looks like it has been sitting there there since 4 nov and was only passed to cardiff mail office 2 days ago. Took 4 hours to get to heathrow and is now in the Usa. Happy ending .
