RUXXXXXXXXXGB ????

Post by Miguel_1960 »

Hello,

I have a packet posted through RM with tracking number RU170101264GB, is it Surface Mail ?

Royal Mail track and trace informs: "27/06/2013 AM DESPATCHED TO BARAJAS SPAIN SPAIN AND CANARY ISLANDS"
but I haven't received the packet and it's not tracked on my country web site. Please, let me know what happen.

Thanks for help,

Miguel.-

That tracking number should relate to an International Signed For (ISF) item. Royal Mail track the item until they hand it over to the overseas post office. In some countries, the overseas post office continues to track the item to delivery. In other countries, however, there are no further tracking events after the item leaves Royal Mail.

Looking at the list of countries at http://www.royalmail.com/personal/inter ... 8-19350033, it appears that the Spanish post office doesn't track ISF items received from Royal Mail. In some countries Royal Mail use their sister company GLS for deliveries but there's no sign of your item on their website either - http://www.gls-group.eu/276-I-PORTAL-WE ... _trace.htm

You cannot tell from the tracking number whether the ISF item was sent as airmail or surface. Even if the item had been sent via surface mail, the expected delivery time for Western Europe is two weeks so you should really have received it by now.

You might want to ask the sender of your item to get in touch with Royal Mail to ask them to investigate. Normally they want 20 working days to have passed since the expected delivery date before investigating though

Based on the most recent entry at http://www.royalmail.com/trackdetails" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (gives you more detail)

Date Time Status Track point
27/06/13 AM DESPATCHED TOBARAJAS SPAIN SPAIN AND CANARY ISLANDS
27/06/13 00:42 RECEIVED ATHEATHROW WORLDWIDE DC HEATHROW WORLDWIDE DC
26/06/13 19:57 DESPATCHABLE TOHWDC SIGNED FOR ROAD 2 SWINDON MAIL CENTRE
26/06/13 19:36 COLLECTED SWINDON MAIL CENTRE
26/06/13 14:48 ACCEPTED AT POL 167 Dukes Ride RG45 6DR

I'd say that it has reached Spain. Assuming that GLS track every item in their system, I'm guessing that it's http://www.correos.es/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; who are handling the item in Spain. Try asking at your local delivery office or post office (whoever deals with Correos)

Thanks barrowk, thanks SpacePhoenix,

I had contacted with the employees of Correos -The Spanish Mail Service- and, regretfully, on their compueters did not appear this tracking number. This morning I did the same with GLS and they did not have any information about that packet.

I am go to wait until next 26th of July to contact the eBay seller to file a claim on sender's post office.

Thanks again,

Miguel.-

Hello again,

I had forgotten to tell that another ISF containig the same merchandise -three diecast planes- never arrived to the Canary Islands and the Spanish Mail Service did not show any tracking number. Its number was RU035159968GB and last information offered by RM was:

"Your item, posted on 22/01/13 with reference RU035159968GB has been received at our international mail centre and is being made ready for despatch overseas."

Coriuously, in the last months- as a militaria collector- I have received safely after the Customs and Police inspection several inert bullets, inert cartridges, inert and deactivated hand grenades and bayonets sent by Surface Royal Mail and declared correctly.

Thanks again,

Miguel.-

That's a long time, even for HWDC. If you were the sender, then I'd have stuck a claims form in long ago.

Thanks fishtanks, thanks LucasLcc,

Both times I am a eBay buyer. First time I recovered my money -about £ 100.00- and I hope that the planes of the second purchase -about £ 150.00- arrived soon to my P.P. Box.

Regretfully, we shall never know what happened with those planes and, believe me, I will pay £ 100.00 more to read an official document telling me the truth and only the truth about that matter.

Best,

Miguel.-

I wonder if Spanish customs are doing extra checks on any stuff going to you, that stuff might have raised red flags for Spanish customs. Try contacting Spanish customs.

In Spain you can own that stuff if you purchase it using surface mail and you keep it at home. From time to time, the Customs and the Police check those inert items but still I have not had any trouble with them. I contacted the Spanish Customs and they informed to me that they did not know anything about my diecast planes. Today all the mail is scanned all around the World and I suppose that that is the big problem if behind that computer is not a honest human being.
