Signed For Posting Book

Post by LucasLCC »

Hi All,

Have recently been sending a reasonable volume of mail, and due to the nature of the items being sent, they are either Signed For or require a Certificate of Posting. Because of this it can take a while at the post office to put them into the system, which is an issue for people who are unlucky to be in the queue behind me. All items I send have the postage paid prior to handing them over the counter (I just use stamps, as it works out easiest for me).

I have spoken to the customer services team, and they've sent me a couple of the CoP pads to use, as well as a Signed For postage book (P1038). Now the pads are self explanatory, but have a question regarding the book.

It mentions in the book that the post office will still have to scan each item into the system, and then print of CoP's. I'm assuming this means that they have to manually enter in all of the addresses? Can they not just sign it and then apply the official date stamp to the book?

Regards,
Lucas,

The Signed For posting book is usually used by customers who get their mail collected from their premises. I'm not sure how well it works if you're posting mail at a POL outlet

When I've sent items using a Signed For posting book at my local PO, they usually do something they either refer to as 'SpeedBulk' or 'Bulk Prepaid'. Basically, they scan all of the signed for items but don't enter the addresses into their system like they normally do (because they are already written into the book.) This then produces a receipt with all the barcode/tracking numbers on, which they staple into the book as proof the items were posted.

Thank you both. Sam, that was exactly what I wanted to hear; anything that makes it quicker than normal!

Thanks for your help.
