Repick Frequency

Post by bewildered76 »

Hi,

How often do we customers get new postmen/women? From reading around this forum, I gather the term I'm looking for is 'repick'. So yes, how often do these repicks occur?

No set frequency as far as I am aware.

However, there are different ways customers can get "New Posties" ranging from retirement, sacking and transfer for the permanent ways. Then there are the temporary ways, which are leave, sickness, absorption (where a round is shared between different posties) and suspensions.

I see. Thanks for the answer.

Hmmm, I wonder if there's anyone from Sheffield South West Delivery Office on here? If so, will you be having a repick anytime soon?

Don't you like your current postie then?

As TrueBlueTerrier said, there is no set time frame, in my unit we normally have repacks when we have a revision(a wave of cost cutting basically), and for my lot that is happening about every 12 to 18 months or so. Though, in some areas, it has been taking 3 to 4 years for these processes to take place.
Sometimes, I wish I wasn't a Rep.

A repick doesn't mean all duties get new postmen.

In my office there are duties that have had the same postman for 10-15 years or more. In a repick, these duties don't change as the duty holders want to keep them, and have seniority.

We have some duties that have a different postman almost every week. If a postman gets one of these duties in a repick, the chances are, as he's been a reserve, or spare, he'll know lots of duties, and won't get to do his own, new duty very often as he's asked to cover others.

So.. there's no hard and fast rules, and even if you get a new postman, the chances are he won't be doing it every day.

Some posties repick into the same duty, so you may not lose your current postman.
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets

Oh no, my postman's great. Had the same one for years. It sounds as though this is not uncommon.
